Still waiting to Hear something from Bethesda

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 2:37 pm

I have been unable to play the game since i bought it (6 hours ago) and I have cruised the forums looking for a way to fix my game, EVERY time i load the game it gets to the load screen with the symbol and doesn't load past that point
and before anyone mentions I have read all the posts about the sound fix, DEP fix, Compatibility and running in admin, updating drivers and changing video card setting and my game is still not working which is a great waste of cash and time.

also to top this off, Bethesda has not posted anything informing us that they recognize that there is an issue and they are trying their hardest to fix it... sure there are a few moderators cruising around offering a suggestion or two but nothing
that reassures the rest of us that our issue/s are being looked into.

Its pretty sad that such a highly anticipated game has so many bugs.. I just hope Bethesda can fix them asap so I can play what looks like such an Epic game :)

P.s Steam is a P.O.S

maybe for some it works well but for others all it seems to do is slow down or completely halt our gaming experience.

On my machine the game minimized itself because of my firewall (I use zone alarm) because the game wanted net access. With some games it won't minimize properly and it will look like the game halted. In addition to what you tried I would try making sure the game has full access in whatever firewall you have (or disconnect from the net and kill your firewall program entirely) and see if that has any effect.

Take a look at the forums my man. I don't want to sound like I'm not sympathetic, but there are going to be lots of issues on release dates. If you've been around for elder scrolls games for a while you will know that they typically have a lot of bugs to fix. It's the price you pay for having such a huge expansive environment. You quite literally cannot have a bug free game that is the size of these games because you would never have the time to test everything - the game wouldn't be released until the graphics and game engine is so out of date that no one would buy it! The good news is the bugs usually get fixed, and IMO they happen in a timely matter. (I am a software developer and these things don't get fixed in 6 hours).

As for your comment about how they haven't communicated to you that they recognize it as an issue - you have to understand that a developer can either look into an issue or communicate status to you. Would you rather have them fixing the problem? Or spending their time communicating status? If you don't want a real status they could assign a couple staff members to blanket reply to all forum posts saying "we're looking into it as we speak" but what good does that do? You already know they're going to look into it because you posted the thread.

I understand you have a problem, but do try what I suggested and do think of any other programs you are running that might interfere. What about setting the video settings to the lowest possible settings BEFORE trying to launch? Are your video card drivers up to date?

Regarding your crash, I had the exact same thing before I fixed it by going into control panel -> Hardware and sound -> Manage Audio Devices, go into the properties of your headphones/speakers, then go into the advanced tab and change it to 2 channel, 24 bit, 44100MHz. This fixed my crashing. (PS. If you want to play without steam, go to the steam directory for the game: Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim and start the game from the TESV.exe (If you start it from the launcher it will start from steam)).
