Stop enchanting our cool looking armorweaponsclothesetc.

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 6:19 pm

brought this up in another topic, thought it deserved its own thread.

to much unique looking gear is enchanted, with no similar looking gear that is unenchanted, examples of but not limited too:

-every form of thieves guild armor (nearly 4 full suits of armor, every piece enchanted)
-almost every form of dark brotherhood armor (only one of nearly 5 outfits is unenchanted)
-every single form of mage looking robes (save the basic mage robes)
-every single decent hood in the game (save the basic mage hood)

to many outfits that are unique are worn by NPC's that can neither be killed, nor pickpocketed despite having the required perks, examples but not limited too:

-executioners outfit
-karliahs clothing
-most jarl clothing
-some deadric clothing

to many weapons are either already enchanted, or not smithable (dont really have a problem with the enchants, but not being able to improve the quality can make them worse then iron weapons in some cases, examples but not limited too:

-Ebony blade
-All silver weapons (that was sad)
-Wuuthrad
-drainheart weapons
-shiv (lol, but it would be cool)

please stop toying with us with so much cool stuff, that we would love to use but cant/wont

Hail to the PC!

Mods made about everything you described possible.

Otherwise: The sets wouldn't really be unique, if you could enchant you own, now would they?

Solution is to buy the PC version. If you want a game that's tailor made for you (pun fully intented) you are going to have to modify it. The have millions of customers and trying to make each of them happy would be impossible. There's nothing wrong with your request, other than there's no way you can expect them to act on it.

By the way... did you ever stop to consider that this stuff is "soo coool" simply because you can't have it?

Really? With an enchanting skill added back into the game, having clothing and armor that is not enchanted is a request that we can't expect them to act on? An unenchanted "novice" mage robes is too much?

The game is sorely lacking in clothing/robe options already. I don't think it would be too much to ask if they already have the model in the game just add an unenchanted version of it. As for certain guild armor, I'm kind of on the fence about that. I mean, if it is guild armor it kind of fits that it might be enchanted with effects that help guild members. But still, it seems like it would be totally doable to have an unenchanted version.

And I'm on the PC so I can mod it in, but seems like it was a bit of an oversight imo.

Totally agree with the OP. Especially if you take the dual enchant perk, these armors are actually a handicap.

Mods are irrelevant in this case seeming how i don't like PC controls nor feel like connecting my controller into the PC just to play skyrim with mods.

But i think besthesda should make some dlc for more armor/clothing and what not on top of the expansions and free content they'll be patching into the game.

I think he means 4 different armor sets, like the normal TG armor, nightingale armor, guild master armor, and Linwe's armor (4 seperate sets.)

indeed i did, the better base armor that you can trade for looks the same.

but i just dont see why they went out of their way to make stuff unobtainable.

in the case of the summerset shadows, there armor could have been lootable, and yet it was all completly unavailable. i am so happy that at least wolf armor was not enchanted, i dont wear it, but i can if i want to make that style of character and still have good unique looking gear.

all the mages robes were disapointing as well, ive seen alot of people who for various reasons have wanted to use one of the versions of the robes, but alas most have useless enchants on them.

i think if you didnt have mods, and had to use what was actually made for the game, you would be a little more understanding, im glad bethesda still caters to the PC users these days were others seem to not care, but please stop rubbing it in eh :)

There really needs to be a high level enchanting perk that allows you to disenchant any item without destroying said item.

This, or a patch that allows you to craft the faction armors at the base of each faction.

I don't understand why they won't allow us to re-enchant something. If they wanted to stop people from using that technique to level the skill they could have just made it so you don't get any skill increase from enchanting over an existing enchant.

I have a mod installed that does that but it feels a tiny bit like cheating. Maybe it would be better if faction merchants sold unenchanted gear.

That'd work for me.

it would be whining about that too, another way would be "enchanting over" or disenchant with out destrying the item a 100 skill perk
