StormcloakImperial fort garrisons

Simple question: How far into the Civi War questline do you need to get to get the Stormcloaks and Imperial garrisons to spawn inside the forts controlled by either side, such as Fort Greymoor, Fort Dunstad, etc.?

Whenever you are sent to clear out a fort.

After you win the fort the troops will be stationed there after a few days or another mission later.

- Fort Greymoor is one of the first forts you'll get if you side with the Stormcloaks(Complete Battle for Whiterun)

- Fort Hraggstad is the very first forts you'll get if you side with the Legion(Complete Joining the Legion)

Wasn't his question but you are correct.

It applies for all the forts except ones controlled by outside forces such as Necromancers or bandits (exception to the bandit one is the first fort you clear out near Solitude if you side with the Legion.)

I think there may have been some confusion as to what I meant. I was actually asking how far into the questline you need to get for the pesky bandits and necromancers to clear off, not for your side's troops to replace the other side's troops after you win a battle.

Oh. They don't. Not all forts/garrisons will be filled with troops. Only the ones you fight over will have new troops in it.

Like I said:

According to the wiki, Fort Greymoor, Fort Amol, Fort Neugrad, Fort Kastav, Fort Dunstad, Fort Snowhawk, Fort Hraggstad (and possibly others) are populated by Legion or Stormcloak soldiers during the war, I have seen this on one of my save files so I know it happens! I was simply asking how far you need to go into the questline to get them to show up, because I've done the Jagged Crown and Message to Whiterun on the Stormcloak side and the damn bandits are still in Fort Dunstad.

I think the enemy garrisions move in as soon as you start the Reunification of Skyrim. Fort Amol is full of live (and unfriendly) Stormcloaks although I haven't recieved the quest to clear it out yet on my current playthrough.
