Strange Damage values

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 5:43 am

Here's my problem: My guns' damage values are too high. I noticed it when I was inspecting my weapons in my PIPBoy.
All of a sudden the trail carbine for example does 80dmg instead of 45. The Sniper Rifle does over 100 dmg and so on.
In most cases it's almost double of what it used to be. Has anyone experienced that bug before, or did I miss something that is enhancing my damage values?

Thanks for the answer, but I knew that. But there were no changes in weapon condition or my gun skill. The weapons were already fully repaired and my guns skill was on 100. I also did not pick the cowboy perk.
There were no messages whatsoever...

Edit: Alright, problem solved. I had to unequip a weapon. Changing weapons did nothing, but unequipping one, so I only had my fists "equipped" set the values back to normal. Really strange...

Are you sure that the DAM is that high and that you aren't, instead, looking at DPS? I find I make that mistake sometimes.

I mean, the cowboy repeater fires pretty fast, so it has a high DPS even if it only does ~30-40 damage.

I hope it's a bug that happened to me and I didn't notice it. I found the game got too easy and everything died in a couple shots. I just wish I had my old save to go back and check.

You have another weapon equipped that has JHP ammo loaded? When mousing over your guns the DAM value seems to be calculated off the ammo loaded in your current weapon, while DPS doesn't seem to change. I've had my ARM report a DAM value of 194 because I had the brush gun on my back loaded with HP rounds. Switch over the the ARM and it reads correct at 128 with hand loads.

Nope, it was definitely the DAM value. The DPS was much higher.

Thanks, have to try that and see if that caused the "problem".

The forum won't let me edit my post... but yeah, you were right. Thank you!
