Strange Noise in Freeside

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 12:50 am

Anyone have any idea what that random noise in Freeside is? I walked out of the Mormon Fort and a loud noise like an aircraft started. I instantly thought it was the spacecraft that drops the Firelance in FO3, but I never saw anything. Is it a glitch or am I missing something?

Noticed the same, though I thought it sounded more like a vault opening or something.
I'm sure there are places beneath NV, just not sure which one is making this sound and if it's accessible.

Could be mistaken though, and it could be a plane after all.

Um, I'm probably wrong, but I think that happens when NPC's either go in or out of Freeside.
I think it's the same sound those large gates there make when you open them...

No to the 2 above, there is definitely a jet-passing-over noise in Vegas. It's weird.

There is a noise that reminds me of the Oblivion Citadel Door bug, probably is that same 5 year old bug.

You would think that there would have been at least some work done on the engine between games :S

Probably just a bug. Like when I am wandering the wastes in the middle of know where and I suddenly hear a door opening. Just a bug

I've heard it right as I was standing by the Mormon Fort entrance in N Freeside. It feels like a misplaced noise-maker. It's rather loud and non-localized.

I was using FRAPS at the time, so I'll have to go digging for that clip.

That's the one. Well it sounds like a glitch, but boy was I hoping for a good ol' fashioned Random Encounter. Spent a good 1/2 hour looking for some special item. It's on a quick save and I can repeat the noise every time I load that save game. It did let me find a Mojave Express box that had been staring at me all game and I never noticed.

Really? a discussion for a noise? lol. Its the door people. Makes the same noise in many parts of freeside and outside of that. I heard the noise also but it took me like 2 minutes to figure out... I just didnt think it required its own post for it or i would have done it, i just figured it wasnt big and that others would figure it out. Some people want every little thing to be a hidden secret or bonus which it could be but i dont think they would hide it like that. Just a noise people so continue with the gaming and find other secrets

Yes!!! Mainly because (I'm guessing) , that like me you have all been to the fort hundreds of times and only ONCE heard this noise! It's sooooooooooo not the door!lol!
I was hoping for a random enocutner too, it was like the 1st time i've been excited and nervous during the whole game!

Maybe connected to "Little Buster"? He showed up after that along the tracks that are on the north/east side of the Mormon Fort. (He shows up there dead after you finish Three Card Bounty.)

Yep, I'm really discussing a noise that sticks out like a sore thumb. It was the first time I heard it, and haven't really noticed it since. With as much focus as there was in FO3 for random encounters, and the fact that I have Wild Wasteland, I wanted to be sure I didn't miss something. I'm chalking it up to door noise, but it sure felt like a mystery to me.
