Strategy Informer's Review - buy Dishonored, put it on your

Many people these days don’t know the name “Looking Glass Studios”. Hell, even at their peak they weren’t that famous, hence why they went under. Maybe you’d do better with the names “Irrational Games”, “Thief”, “Warren Spector”, “System Shock”, “Ken Levine”, and the various series made in what’s dubbed ‘The Looking Glass Aesthetic’ such as Bioshock and Deus Ex. Wildly imaginative first-person games, with a staggering attention to detail and a feel unlike every other game out there. Dishonored, made by Arkane Studios with the assistance of the lead designer of Deus Ex and the lead artist behind Half-Life 2, is the first original IP made in the Aesthetic since Bioshock. It will either wildly succeed or massively disappoint.

Seems to be getting good scores so far this morning!

I hope the good reviews keep pouring in. The guys (and girls?) at Arkane deserve much praise for their hard work.

Hopefully Eidos is very scared right now. The gauntlet has been thrown down, and a big publisher just proved you can release a real immersive sim in this climate.

Thief 4 had better adjust accordingly.

I refuse to treat Dishonored as a substitute for anything. I hope it can stand up on its own. Ken Levine's Infinite BS will likely be just that: more bs, and ThiFOURf doesn't actually exist.

Honestly I take that remark as an insult, that it's a "substitute" for better games to come. I haven't seen anything like Dishonored in this world, as it stands out from both Deus Ex, Thief and Bioshock. I hope Bioshock Infinite will be great, it looks that way, Thief 4 could be amazing if done with Thief 1 and 2 in mind, BUT Dishonored will not be a game spent so that the release dates of those games can draw nearer, it is a game played so that we may indulge ourselves into one damn fine unique amazing one-of-a-kind game! ;)

I didnt like Bioshock. It was kind of bland and boring. Like philiosophy 101, just kind of preachy. Get the same in a classroom with more detailed instructions and discussions than a game. But hey everyone has to have their training wheels. Guess its good in that department, teenagers first philosophy or something like that.

Edit
As for thief 4, I dunno. I liked Deus Ex HR a lot. So it could be a contender. Then again it does't exist at the moment. In truth I think even with those Dishonored will stand out to the test of time.

Personally I loved Bioshock 1 and 2. In fact I'm replaying Bioshock 2 while I wait for Dishonored.

Anyway. Loving all the good reviews, altho reading reviews is just making me more impatient.
