[REQ] Stripping enchantments without destroying the item

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 4:04 pm

Hello.

As a mage, I love the appearance of the Apprentice's robes I picked up at the start of the game. As I quested and acquired better equipment, I started to miss the look of my older equipment. Running around with Archmage Robes + Morokei looks pretty silly.
I am nearing 100 enchanting, so I am planning to make myself a custom armor set for my needs, but I can not find anything that fits the look of my character as well as those first robes.

So my request is this: A mod that enables you to strip the enchantment from a magic item without destroying it, giving enchanters more freedom of what to wear. Perhaps balanced by the transaction consuming a soul stone of corresponding strength to the enchant being removed.

I had the same idea. You could either disenchant the magic item, learning the effect(s) and destroying the item, or strip the enchantment ("purify"), not learning the effect(s) but keeping the unenchanted item intact. You'd be restricted from stripping the enchantment from unique items just like you can't disenchant unique items.

if you use the duplicating armour mannequin glitch. You get an unenchanted version of the gear. Just throw one set away if you don't want an enchanting.

That's my idea for you to use in case no mod is made soon.

I just tried it and it did not work. I got the duplicated armor, but it still had the standard magicka regen enchantment.

Did you try looking at the cloth store in Solitude? They sell some kind of "mage robes" or something of similar name that are unenchanted robes.
