Having just purchased my plot of land in Falkreath, I fast traveled (I rarely do so, but I was so excited!) to the plot of land, and attempted to start work. Much to my surprise and annoyance when I discovered a "you cannot access this during combat" message.

Quickly dispatching the offending Frostbite Spider, I again attempted to use the workbench. Still stuck in combat.

I wait for a few hours, then for more hours. Still in combat. I sneak, and I'm not detected and I can't find any enemies.

Does anyone have any advice? I'm on a PC if it helps.

This may be a silly question, but did you try sneaking away or zoning by entering another building (like Pinewatch or one of the shops in Falkreath)?

I've tried sneaking away, but so far it doesn't help. At first I was "detected" but after I waited for a few hours I was hidden. Haven't tried going into a new cell yet, I'll have to try tonight.
