So I went to the Enchanting Table in the College to enchant myself a new Ebony Bow that's been enhanced. After arguing with the keyboard and clicking randomly, it finally let me rename my bow to something that I wanted to. I don't know if that was just hitting Capslock to remove auto running that let me trigger it or if the game just randomly decided to let me out of the goodness of its heart...

Either way, I created the Black Bow of Soul svcking. Simple enough. I tried to enchant a second item, a Legendary Ebony Greatsword. Not only couldn't I rename it no matter what I did, but I couldn't enchant it. I was trying for a simple Absorb Health enchant on it, and it kept sending me the message of "Item cannot have this enchantment on it" or some such (I can't remember the exact wording). So I decided to quit enchanting, at which point Tab would not exit, nor would escape. I was getting really aggravated, when I clicked on the "Tab to quit Enchanting" spot, where it popped up the menu to leave enchanting. Choosing yes, made me exit out of the enchanting menus, but now I am "stuck".

I cannot move beyond turning (WASD do not register), I cannot re-access the enchanting table (even though it pops up with the "E to begin Enchanting" option when hovering over the table. I can draw my bow and shoot, but I cannot pick up the Arrow even though it registers the "E to pick up Arrow" when hovering over it.

So I decide to reload. Lo and behold I cannot access any menus! Esc does not bring up the game menu, nor does Tab bring up the Gui menus! It is like the game is not registering the keyboard at all now! The mouse registers, but I cannot Jump, or use any buttons to access any menus/abilities. I can access the console however, which is the most odd. Of course I can Alt-Tab out of the game and type a topic here, and I can get back into the game, but that is it. I am stuck. Has anyone come across this before, and can someone help me escape the Enchanting table of doom?

I had just levelled up my Enchanting to 100, so I really don't want to reset, but at this point, I'm going to have to...

I can't understand how a company as large as Bethesda can be so inept at QAing their games, especially considering the legacy of their previous games having errors...you would think they would actually test their game before releasing it...They are quite possibly the single most inept game company I have ever experienced (maybe next to Obsidian, not sure who is worse). What I don't get is how no gaming magazines or reviews ever call them out on it...

I get stuck in the enchanting table about half the time. I've always just waited about 1 min and I get unstuck.

Yes ..it will let you go ...eventually...

Can take up to 3 mins but has always let me go at some point.

I have had it happen 2 or 3 times, and each time after about 20-30 seconds I have control again.

i have this 'bug' occasionally, when it first happened to me i was trying to by-pass it without succes while pressing escape key works as a key in my case to bring up the game menu and leaving it again wont grant me my wasd controls back. As written before it seems to unfreeze after 10 secs or more, as it does for me. Nothing drastic though but quite a nuisance

Well, I left mine for about 30 minutes, and no change...had to kill it with Task Manager. Thanks for trying...

I had this happen one time (so far) and was not able to get out of it. When I tried to TAB out, nothing. Same with Cntl-Alt-Del... or I was to impatient with Win7x64. Anyways, ~ and "qqq" will quit Oblivion, F3, F3NV and Skyrim and bring you back to Desktop.

It's caused by mousewheeling forward into first-person mode. When you exit, you're stuck. Mousewheel back about 10-20 seconds and you should be good.

It happened to me just one time. I happened to use the mouse to click on 'R' to enchant. I notice sometimes the mouse 'misses' and actually activates off to the left because I remember seeing 'Rename' come up. That's when I Tabbed out and it hung up. Now, I always do a quick save before using the table, and finger-press the 'enchant' key. The glitch has not happened to me since.

This happens to me a lot. I find it happens whenever my scroll wheel somehow both scrolls through the menu items AND zooms in/out on my character during enchanting.

Getting stuck is just normal for me now, most of the time I get stuck, especially when I hang around for a while and enchant a bunch of stuff (to raise my skill level).
So what I do is I hit ESC twice (bring up the menu and back) and then I keep hitting the right mouse button while moving WASD keys all over and the SPACE bar and it takes usually 10-20 seconds to leave the table.
