Stuck in Sneak Crouch

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 5:10 am

I seem to be stuck in sneak mode. I went into Pelagia's house (in Whiterun), in sneak mode, and attempted to use an odd-looking cooking pot. The animation transition into cooking mode didn't work right, the camera changed and I stood up by the pot, but misaligned with it, and no cooking UI appeared. I was able to hit B to exit.

Unfortunately, my character was then stuck in Sneak mode in first-person, with a broken hybrid cursor that was both the regular mode crosshair, and a big open eye to show that I was 'detected' (there was no one else in the house, but I think it showed 'detected' because I wasn't actually sneaking). In third-person mode, I appeared to be standing errect. When I moved in third-person, I was moving at full-speed ... in first-person, the camera was notably lower to the ground and I was moving at sneak speed. No amount of button clicking would make my toon change his posture in either third- or first-person view.

Here's the kicker: reloading old games doesn't reset the bug. It imports the condition into whatever save game I pull up ... if I was standing in the old game, I am permanently standing. If I was crouching, I am unable to stand up. My posture mode simply cannot be changed.

I am using a gamepad, but playing on the PC. I am going to try moving to Keyboard and Mouse to see if this corrects anything, but I am skeptical. Has anyone else encounter this bug? Any solutions, or ideas?

Man, topics are flying fast and furious off the front page today. Sorry to bump, but I'm on page 2 with 0 views and could really use a little help.

Use one of the blacksmithing tools, it changes your position and it should reset your character.
