Any idea how I can make my guy run again? All he's doing right now is walking, even though I'm pushing the left control stick all the way forward. I tried exiting the game and going back into it, but it didn't work.

Encumbrance works differently in this game. It forces you to walk instead of freezing you. Check your inventory to see if you went over your limit.
