Stuff that everyone likesdoesuses, but you don't

Post » Mon Jul 30, 2012 5:15 pm

Horses? Check. Swords? Check. Bow and arrow? check. Short people? check. Armor? check. Castles? check. Monsters? check. Kings and Queens? check. Fail to see the difference. So sick of all that stuff.
Of course. It's set in what would be equivalent to our middle ages, or dark ages and maybe you don't like the time period. But ASOIAF is not like LOTR or WoT. Those are typical good vs evil, good wins like always. Dwarves in those type of books are seen as mythological characters.

ASOIAF is more realistic and good people die, "heroes" die. It points out moral dilemmas and focuses on different POV's. Bad people live and continue their horrible deeds. It focuses on morality. A good man can be seen as bad by others and vice versa. Plus there is six (like in the world).

Also, the dwarf Tyrion is a normal person who is mocked for his stature. He's a drunk who is witty.

It's a different type of fantasy. Low fantasy though.

So has this thread officially just become a "things I hate" thread? Because of lot of the things listed here aren't popular or liked by a large percentage of the populous at all....

Pretty much.

I was using a loose definition of "everyone". In fact, I pretty much substituted "people on the Internet" for "everyone".

:P

@Jona - If we didn't disagree heartily on a few key topics, I have a feeling we'd get along famously.

Oh, and another.

Boobs.

While I'm an ass man myself, I feel I must disagree with your premise here.

i have the same opinion about Valve.

People hate them, and I will admit I am not a huge fan of Steam but it is nothing to get the jimmies rustled!

My only problem with Valve is that they've released three full games, soon to be four, since finishing Half-Life 2: Episode 2. It's been five years, and at this rate, we won't even see anything on Half-Life 3 for several more. Were the games they've released in the meantime good? Absolutely. Should they take a break to get the creative juices going again? Sure. The thing is, they need to finish what they started. The story of Gordon Freeman needs to come to a close. Not just so that we can finally know what happens, but also so that Valve can actually move on.

TL;DR version? Tired and not in the mood to watch a long video... :/

Digital distribution
Smartphones
Gaming on smartphones
Driving (I do like cars, but not driving them)
The 'modern warfare' setting in entertainment
Drinking (alcohol)
Flip flops (I don't know if everyone likes/uses them, but to everyone that does-your feet are gross. Stop it.)

Other stuff.

Mint chocolate. The most foul food ever created. Mint mixed with anything is pretty bad.

Lol, no no. Neither the behind nor the briasts. I just like the male and female forms and I just so happen to think they both look better clothed. But I will admit the male form is quite nice unclothed as well. But I can have a relationship with both. I do not take six into account when in a relationship. I don't like six, either.

Toilet paper.
Soap.
Shampoo.

I kid, I kid!

I don't know, there's lots of things I don't like that many people do. Probably about as many things I do like that others don't. To each their own, methinks.

Oh, I also don't really understand the used game market. I mean sure, it's nice for older titles, but I don't see the point for newer games.

Yea the MLP thing I dislike. I tried watching a few episodes and they emphasize the hell out of friendship. It's overkill.

Wait, buying or selling? Buying a newly released used game and saving $10 is a win in my book.

You buy a game, finish it, sell it back to the store (or trade it) and someone else buys a perfectly functional game that you were never going to play again anyway for slightly cheaper.

What's so complicated about it?

Yea. Most places that sell and buy used games only, make sure that the discs aren't scratched. There is a place I go to and they give me like $30 for a newly released game and $10 for older games. Of course older Xbox or PS2 games go for like $5 or less.

GameStop rips people off in that department. Plus they only give store credit now because they want customers to buy games only from them.

But soon the used game market will be non-existent because next gen consoles will encode games so they can only be purchased once.

It's not a complicated concept, but I just don't really understand why it's so appealing.

Personally, I would rather just wait for it to go on sale new. I guess I feel bad for not supporting the developer, even though only a very small amount of the sale actually makes it back to them.
