stupid, stupid 12.7 mm ammo.

i cannot find that stuff anywhere. even on my last character that was level 30 i only found a couple of vendors selling the crappy hollow point and even that was only in very tiny number. i cant make it in the ammo crafter. i searched on nexus and find a dozen or so mods that added recipes to the ammo benches. has anyone use one in particular that they dont like. i doubt its a game balance decisicion since i can find .50 incendiary and AP round all over the place which is the most powerful gun in the game besides the guass rifle. thanks in advance.

it would be nice if it added .44 ap ammo as well and some of the other blatantly missing ammo types as well.

Guys, I completed that Free quest to get This Machine, and the guy who gave the quest sold 12.7mm ammo in the thousands after the quest was complete.

yeah i used the guy at mclarran the last couple of times but this time is an NCR playthrough and i turned him in. i figured it would be rare to find but im literally not finding any ammo outside of the very rare 4 or 5 rounds of crappy hollow-point. there are so many ammo crafting mods and they all do basically the same thing....just figured if someone was using one in particular that they really liked.

The reason why it's so hard to find is because it's supposed to be. Only 2 weapons in the whole game use that ammo.

It's the same reason why it's very hard to find .45-70 Gov't., BB's, Mini Nukes, and APCs as well. They are all labeled as being rare ammunition.

Though surprisingly, according to the wiki, it's actually easier to find 12.7mm ammo than it is to find .45-70 Gov't. ammo.

You can kill the ranger in Miguel's if you're hidden and use a silent weapon that can one-shot him without lowering your faction rep with the NCR. That's what I did.

But I agree that more ammunition types should be available to make, especially with The Hand Loader Perk.

that weapon is one which, you find, and you see how really really cool it is, and you're really dying to get your hands on ammo...

but, alas, the gods of nv have decreed that the ammo is as rare as turtles with wings.

And you spend half the game hungering for ammo and hoping to find it... and the other half having given up. eh ..

i can find plenty of ammo for the guass gun and the plasma caster and the anti-material rifle. i routinely see .50 incendiary and armor piercing ammo all the time and that gun is more powerful than the 12.7. i dont mind that its rare or if they made it expensive to craft its just that i never see it. and the only 40-45 ammo i see is 99% hollow point...........who uses hollowpoint in this game. to be honest i dont even think they are the best guns. the hunting revolver is a better pistol and the 12.7 smg just svcks unless your practically in front of them. i swear i can shoot at 90 degree angles with the smg its so inaccurate. at least i hit stuff with the 10mm smg and if i use the custom rounds the 10mm smg is actually a pretty good smg.

I've gotta agree. The 12.7 SMG has horrible accuracy. The silenced 12.7mm pistol is better, but still surprising inaccurate.

Unless you want ultra realistic and complicated you could try my simple mod, it even has a few extras besides the missing ammo types.

I use my own mod http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35370 coupled with http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36324. Does everything i need for now. I made 200 rounds of 12.7mm ammo shortly after getting the pistol from nothing but steel.

A few extra recipes would be nice, but what I'd like to see is rarer ammo in loot, but the ability to break down Surplus type ammo and craft the good stuff from it.
