Stuttering Inoors Even Though Framerate is at 60 FPS

Post » Sat May 19, 2012 6:38 am

This is completely false..I get a constant 60 FPS, and when I use the iPresentInterval=0 line, I get 150-200 FPS. So you probable should spread false info.

The problem is you have to put it in Skyrim.ini NOT Skyrimprefs.ini. Some of the posts floating around list the wrong file.

This should go to sticky!!!!
The whole world changes vsync the wrog way, in the wrong ini!!! Just tested it.

Thanks dude.

As for everyone's desire for ever higher frame rates, I do not share this need. Sure there is a difference between 30 and 60 FPS however, they are marginal at best since the human brain cannot perceive any significant difference.

With all respect, but I think it's time for you to do some reading:

Conclusion: Until either a patch comes from Bethesda correcting the use of AntiAliasing with AMD graphics cards or until better drivers are found, just keep your settings on whatever you have with AntiAliasing turned off.

I wish simply turning off AA worked for me but it does not. With everything set to low and all forms of AA turned off the game still stutters indoors on me.

All I can really do is use windowed mode and hope ATI releases a driver that fixes this problem. I knew I shouldn't have gotten another ATI card. Their driver support is terrible.

I have seen that kind of information before. I stand by what I say about frame rate. I can play Counter-Strike with 300 fps and I, personally, cannot detect any difference from 30 fps. That is, of course, assuming the game doesn't lag for any reason.

Finally found what works for me. http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34 fps limiter and the recommended settings to reduce input lag are what I used to eliminate the micro stuttering while still having vsync enabled.

This is exactly what I did (from the description on the download page):

Technical:
Mouse lag: You can suppress the effect of mouse lag if you do the following.

1. In antilag.cfg change these variables to:
RenderAheadLimit=2, FPSlimit=0

2. In SkyrimPrefs.ini add the following:
fMouseHeadingYScale=0.200
fMouseHeadingXScale=0.200 under [Controls]

3. In Skyrim.ini add:
iPresentInterval=1 under [Display]

Hope that helps!

if you are stuttering in dungeons when looking at walls and moving your mouse vertically then i have that problem too. Somehow RECORDING with fraps cuts out the stutter... i have no idea why.

For me, this stuttering is caused (or simply made much worse) by having a spell equipped. Example: In Breezehome I can walk up to the left wall immediately upon entering with no weapons drawn and get no visible stuttering on the y axis. Same with a weapon equipped. However, as soon as I equip Flames in my left hand the stutter is unbelievable.

I've been growing my hair out just to pull it out at this maddening issue.
