I'm 1% sub-Saharan African on my Mother's Side

Post » Sat Aug 06, 2016 4:43 am

My aunt discovered her side of the family is African through a dna exam. I'm not talking, "once upon a time nigg as," I'm talking http://www.theroot.com/articles/history/2014/02/traces_of_african_ancestry_in_a_white_person_the_likely_reason/, my African forebear's water broke with new child.

I'm letting everyone know.

Um, congrats? Yeah I'll go with that.

*Ahem*

Congratulations!!!!!

What if your DNA exam revealed that you had DNA from some previously unknown species, and then you had government dudes in black suits showing up at your door to haul you away? That'd be freaky.

Ok then, now what? You expecting all that "support" minorities get? A free pass for racist remarks/jokes?

I know everyone else is spamming reaction.gif, but that's because this thread can't be comprehended, and really begs one question: u wot m8?

Cool story bro, etc.

As far as I can tell, I'm about 70% haggis, 30% brown ale. The assumption that there was anything human in my background was probably just the result of a dirty microscope.

When I first heard of Haggis when I was around 13 I believe. I thought Haggis was this sort of strange, green, with tentacles that's still half alive.

I was an imaginative child.

why?

most people judge individuals by who they are as an individual, not their ancestry.. so we all don't quite understand the point of this thread..

your ancestry does not define who you are as an individual, which is why your getting so much "so what?" responses..

as an example, i apparently descended from nobility if the family records are to be believed, but alot of good that does me, it doesn't change who I am as an individual or how people perceive me today, so going "hey, look who i descend from" comes off as nonsensical and somewhat childish (no offense)

so this whole thread seems kind of pointless

So should we start bowing and responding with "Your Highness" now or later? :P

Lovecraftian Haggis. I like it. That would be the kind that eats you instead of vice versa.

Congratulations OP, you're of African descent. Just like 100% of the human race.

naah, was more lesser nobility rather than high.. and your family sort of loses any prestige they once had when the only person who made the family even somewhat known leaves most of his assets to the crown in their will hundreds of years before your birth, and the rest was long dried up before i was ever born :P

which is exactly why you shouldn't put much faith in ones ancestry to define who you are ;)
