Subtitles goes too fast

Post » Tue Feb 22, 2011 7:30 am

Is there any way to adjust the speed of subtitles?
Now the subs goes so fast that it's impossible to read all of them.
Any chance to adjust them? Perhaps from registry etc?
It's also stupid idea to hide the question in conversations, because there's enough space to show both of them. Now when question or some dialog pops up it keeps being on the screen few seconds. This time should be increased. But when comes the choose-list of answers, the original dialog/question goes away. Why? There is space available to show the entire conversation?

But the fastest way to solve this would be the ability to adjust the time delay of each dialog. Where to adjust this?

Fast?
Not really. /opinion
But maybe you can't read very fast.
I have a friend who really can't read very fast at all.
Used to be a pain for him to watch american films cause of it.
Not so much now that he knows English.

Anyway, you on the PC?
Cause otherwise I don't think you can adjust it.

Play a few old school JRPG across a few years and you will be reading faster in no time!

That's quite possible. English is my.. like third language.

Reading movie subtitles isn't problem for me. It's just that in this game they goes way too fast.

I'm using PC.
I decided to no to start playing until this problem is solved. For comparison: I've played Fallout 3 to the end and the subtitles were never problem there. But with this New Vegas they goes much faster...

I noticed a game setting called fSubtitleSpeechDelay. I'll take a look at it later when I wake up and see if altering that can slow down the speed of subtitles unless someone beats me to it. I've been awake for 36 hours now on another FONV marathon.

EDIT: This would mean a mod.

While this not may be the same case as yours, but I have noticed the very rare time as in FO3 - to this day - when the dialogue will appear and disappear within quite literally half a second. I don't know how to reference it but I can replicate it over and over with the same characters.

Are you deaf? Since its obvious that you know English so i don't really see what problem is? You hear what they say, you don't need to read it. And when you chose your answer you got infinite time to think. The answer going away; is only a problem if you skip through the conversations without listening and it has nothing to do with text speed, just how fast you exit.

However, i would also like text to stay though, since if you skip dialogs you don't see the question, i usually do not skip dialog though, but it happens. Especially when i talk to npcs i talked to before.

If that is directed to me you have chosen your words in the worst possible context since I am profoundly deaf so well done on getting that correct.

Perhaps I did not explain my problem correctly, I can understand the dialogue perfectly and I can read it but in the rare chance there is a bug where the dialogue text appears and disappears, going back to other dialogue options, within 0.5seconds. I can not read text within 0.5 seconds.

I did not say subtitles, I said dialogue, totally different context.

For example, one of the kids in FO3 Little Lamplight done this.

No i was referring to the op, if you hear what they say its not a problem, however if you are deaf then yes i can see the problem, since i also notices what you described, but again the voice does not cut out.

I am not deaf but profoundly hearing impaired myself so I rely on subtitles. This comment was completely insensitive and out of line in my opinion. If everyone had perfect hearing Mundus, games would not need subtitles.

I myself does have bad hearing my left ear is much better than my right, but if i don't hear what they are saying i just turn the volume up (i usually play with headset). And i did not mean to offend anybody, i just asked are you deaf? Is that really offensive? Of course it can be used as offensive in a different contex, but that was not my intention.

Lot of people missing the point here. I read very well thank you but the issue that I have also is that a quest type dialog will pop up in the upper left corner and disappear before I can even move my eyes to start to read it.

I accept that you did not intend any offence Mundus 6 but you must appreciate the bluntless of some people on these forums therefore our reactions.

Im sorry but it came over harsh if anything. I have the same problem, sometimes your just not paying that much attention to what they say and you miss it with the speed of the subtitles. This happens quite a lot when I am in partychat and some one starts talking at the same time a NPC talks ingame.

I'm not deaf either, lol.

I do play with the sound off sometimes as my wife likes her naps.

I see no way to adjust the speed either.

I'm profoundly hearing-impaired myself and rely on subtitles also.

Sometimes, if the subtitles go too fast, I turn the volume on and listen carefully. I then usually get the gist of what the character is trying to tell me.

There is no audible speech on the dialog.
At the very begin of the game, when I'm still with the doctor. After using the machine I'm told to go to the sofa. After sitting there, doc asks me few questions. These questions goes to quickly that I just can't read them all. Ant what comes to the audio - there's no voice etc. so I could listen to these dialogs. There's only this written text ant it goes so fast that it's impossible to read them through.
Maybe this is not question about subtitles, but dialogs instead...

I decided to restart my game from the begin. I was wandering, if this is just some kind of bug.
And what I found is really a bug in the game. This time I could hear doctors voice and now the subtitles lasts longer - the whole time the doctor speaks I can see the subtitles. Earlier there was just the subtitles with very fast speed.

Perhaps this is resolve for this problem. Let's see, if this works through the game.
