I've been playing the Elder Scrolls series since Arena, and I know in the big picture this probably isn't important to most people, but I really miss being able to wear clothes/robes under/over my actual armor. It was fun getting my character naked in Daggerfall and going into a shop and playing dress up before I bought a ridiculously impractical outfit to wear under my armor.

You're not alone.

One of my favorite things in Morrowind was running around wearing heavy armor with a robe over it. With the pauldrons and gauntlets sticking out it always looked really cool to me. Shame they got rid of that.

I noticed that too, and was confused at first, but never mind.

I know that you can't wear clothes with your armor. But I thought they did a great job in the different clothes that are available. Great options for enchanting or roleplaying there....

You're not alone. While I honestly don't care much about being able to wear a robe under/over my armor, I do certainly care for how little of a choice we have in our clothes. I even saw some supposedly rich npc wearing what looked like a dirty robe a local inn waitress would wear : /
I definitely miss all the clothing options we had in Daggerfall indeed. It's not really a huge deal, but still yeh, it was fun wearing some very expensive outfits for no other purpose then vanity / roleplay, if I recall right, Morrowind still had some decent choices.

Admittedly, it didn't hurt that you could enchant each piece of your outfit individually and with proper stacking you were fairly safe from most attackers.

@OP

This is a BIG issue for many and has been since Ob. There was a kind of vague hope that the merging of tops and bottoms would result in a greater variety of items at release but Todd the Hatchet has been true to form: cut first, replace never.

Oh, and have you seen the Sk paper doll? :(

It makes me really sad. I miss my big green robe covering up all my armor and making me look super shady.

Yeah, I'm in this boat as well. Robes tend to appeal to me the most, and they have suited many of my chars. Would be nice to wear a robe even with armor on. This could completely buff your character if both armor and clothing slot would have enchanted items in every part of the body, though.

If they're really concerned about people becoming completely OP (though it's a single player game, c'mon) then make clothing unenchantable. Just an RP element, if you will, but combinable with armor. No one wants plate chafing their... well, several things, really. But why did they take it out completely?

I miss having more clothing options. That said, this will get put back together by modders and I'm glad that Bethesda spent their time on content and the game world instead.

The clothes will be along shortly, I'm sure (for PC folks).

If you mean "extra outfits that you can put on in the same slots", then yes, but modding isn't going to put back in what the OP was talking about - extra equipment slots that let you wear clothing over armor. That takes a change in the game engine which I doubt modding alone will provide.

Yeah, I miss having more clothing options too. Its kinda cool when they separate armor from clothing, allowing us to make all sort of combinations:) any new when tes construction set (or whatever they call it these days) will be released?

Speaking of things you could do in Daggerfall, I miss waiting inside the weapons and armor store, robbing the shelves, then selling back to the merchant.
