Suddenly everything is foggyhazed?

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 10:54 am

Well, one to add to the looooooooooooooooooong list of bugs :(
All of a sudden everything ingame is foggy/hazed: both outside and indoors. The menu and map and everything else looks fine, only ingame it's all like the gamma is turned up. This happened just all of a sudden, I did not change anything. It all started when I levelled up to Level 40?
Did try everything: deleting INI's and let the game make them, removed all the mods, let Steam check integrity, run with or without SKSE, and so on. Weird thing too is that when I try to load a save where for sure the haze was not there, Skyrim totally freezes solid in the game loading screen.
Does this ring any bells to anyone or do I have to install Skyrim again ... for the 3th time? :(

Have you checked to ensure every file associated with a mod has been removed? Also are you using the very latest beta gpu driver?

Yes and yes.
It's totally weird: it's only ingame that it all is bleak/hazed now. Letters of the ,lines, menu, game loading screens and so on are all like it was before: nice contrast rich. But ingame the night now looks like a foggy day and daytime is high gamma, in- and outdoors.
All happened when going to Level 40 somehow.
All is set to default now, all Skyrim settings, no mods (or associated with it) ... still all is like it's High Gamma.

Just thought of something: I too had the bug that Nirnroot suddenly did glow like crazy. The Nirnroot farm was 1 big atomic bright spot. But now it looks like that the whole game is brightened and the nirnroots are indeed way more brighter too then before. Maybe a connection ....

Well, it's 100% a Skyrim something. Now that I did set everything to native Skyrim things, I am able to load also older saves ... and those are perfectly normal contrast? Both in- and outdoor. A load with Level 30 is normal, crisp contrast.
But when I load a latest Level 40 save, it's all bleak? Weird thing is that the save game thumbnail is perfect, not bleak at all.
Sadly I also have that Save Game bug where only F5 Quicksaves are working and not other saves ... so either I am stuck with a ugly, high gamma ingame play or I have to start with level 30 again :(

Found out was is wrong: the "auto adjusting lightning function" is now working anymore. Don't know how it's called exactly but it's the feature where the lighting changes when you look into the sun and then back to the ground? And the lighting adjusts itself? Well, that is stuck, sets itself to maximum and it's embedded in the save file somehow ... cause when I remove all the save files and start all over ... then it is working fine again.
Is there any way to edit a savefile?

that would be "HDR" High Dynamic Range...

The last person that had this we finally figured out, it was something to do with ENB series...do you have that and can try with it OFF?

I have that I think. It's not the full ENB but it's the "Himmelsrand_Custom_Shader_Suite-240-1-31" ... did try it with Off (also did completely remove it) and that is not helping.
I got it in place now again but no difference: somehow the save file got corrupted with that HDR not more working all together.

This happened to several of us with the newest patch. In my case, I played for a couple of hours underground with no problems after installing the patch, went outside and got the permanent glare and my was fps cut in half. I adjusted the light levels to make the world darker, and just now discovered a console command "ClearAdaptedLight (cal) - Clears the HDR adapted light texture." In my case the effects have reduced over time, but the command seems to make things a little better/different than what I'd gotten used to. I hadn't tried it earlier.

Well, tried all kind of things. Found the SHP console command but that also did not help. Did set the ENB to high contrast and darker but still that "haze" is there. And that is butt ugly :(
One thing is for sure: it's kinda corrupted savegame thing cause starting a new game just gives perfect gamerender.
