Super Mutant& Nightkin dlc

Post » Tue Dec 07, 2010 5:15 am

I am a fan of the mutant and nightkin story of FNV but I think they should be labeled as a faction. I think a dlc featuring mutants could be very interesting and a chance for more in depth story telling. Maybe the dlc location could be set behind the open area of Jacobstown. As far as story goes it could be a chance to build apon Marcus and the Remnants of Master's army, the union of black mountan and Jacobstown, and helping Doctor Henry perfect a cure for schizophrenic Nightkin. I would very much like see Super Mutant Behemoths in FNV they would make the fat man worth playing again. :tops:

I will remain abstain on this issue, mainly becuase supermutants for all of the fallout games have been a major plot device, were focus has had them as evil, to actual stand up citizens of the wastelands. I understand that your want for more supermutants but I believe they are mostly asthetic to the game and are not really well suited to maintain their own prescence considering the smaller numbers of them now and a majority in my opinion have settled down to find a better life. FNV doesn't have the menacing numbers of supermutants like FO3 did but there is a reason for that. Besides a dlc focused mainly on the FEV rejects could get very dry. But I wont lie if they pushed one out like that I would most likely buy it.

I'd definitely like to see more of them, not sure about a dedicated DLC though.

Not really. I like Super Mutant's being rare, it adds to the explanation that they are an aging/dying breed.

The Super Mutants are a dying breed, much like the Enclave and Brotherhood. Most of what can be said about them in the series has already been said, we don't really need an entire DLC devoted to them.

Also, this is the west. You're not likely to see any sign of the eastern variant, let alone their Behemoths.

Well thats just sad, if things keep on this way with the Stupid Mutants and the Enclave etc.
There's going to be nothing except scruffy looking wastelanders and mutated animals..
I don't expect to see super-duper-creatures-people around every corner but if they get rid of these thing/people entirely then I don't think FO will be a better place for it.

Just my opinion though.

Lots of them in FO1, decent amount in FO2, lots of them in Tactics, lots of them in FO3 and decent amount in FONV.
Don't see why we need more mutants really, if you want more then play the other games or go back to super mutant hot spots in New Vegas.
No reason for a DLC entitled to them exclusively. (Legion on the other hand needs one. :whistling: )

Well,

FO1- Most likely died in Mariposa and The Cathedral
F02- There were the few dummies that came from Mariposa's slave workers. But their status is unknown in lore.
F:T- Likely purged by the MWBoS.
F3- Since Vault 87 is for all intents and purposes purged. I don't see how the Eastern Super Mutants will carry on for more than a few decades. Especially due to to their deeply mentally crippled issues.
F:NV- Aside from Black Mountain and it's dumb dumbs. (Likely the F2 mutants) Most Super Mutants are just old fogies trying to live on peacefully.

@Doom- Well, I say that's the point of the Series, War destroys proper life. Genetic monsters arise from it. Monsters die of purging by 'normals' with the exception of the friendly ones. Humanity starts gearing towards Pre-War life.

Which is kinda boring.. If I wanted to play a game where I run around with a gun in pre-war america, I'd just play any other generic FPS type game.

Stupid-Mutants, Enclave and the BoS are an enormous part of FO. Without them I think FO loses quite a lot of its charm and appeal.

What I meant was: there are lots of super mutants to deal with in every game.
If he's tired of dealing with the current ones in Vegas then he might want to check out the older titles.

Super Mutants have had progressively more minor roles with each iteration of Fallout (and hell, their whole purpose in FO3 were just to be generic mooks to kill). Ditto for the Brotherhood, whom only barely had a presence in FO2. And the Enclave, by all rights, shouldn't have even been in FO3 anyway. Point is, nothing really stays the same in this setting, but neither is anything going to go back to the way it was. Simply because it can't.

Relax, there's plenty of room for twisted abominations in the wastes. I'm hoping to one day see the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Gehennas and http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Molechs.

Judging way what Obsidian did with DM, I would venture to say that they will give us something much more interesting than super mutants.

I do not think it is necessary since we have dealt with super mutant and nightkin in Jacobstown.

In Fallout 2 the event that The Chosen One killed the only wannamingo queen was canonized in the Fallout Bible.
Wannamingos were not something from nature created from mutation, it was a race created by the Enclave.
With no queen to prolong their race their internal clocks simply 'stopped ticking' and they died out.
All that remains are bones that make a nice crunching sound when you step on them.
