Suprising little details

Post » Sat Aug 18, 2012 4:45 pm

I was walking from winterhold by the northern shore, when I decided to walk a little inland towards my far away destination. All of a sudden, I heard a bear, but I heard it's cry from all around me. This was because the tall pieces of ice surrounding me caused its voice to echo. It sounded even cooler with the turtle beaches that I use. I had no idea that bethesda had paid such close attention to things of this sort, and thought it was a wonderful touch. Do you all notice anything in the game that suprised you from the small details put in as well?

I noticed that when the moons are near the horizon they are bigger, like it works in RL. Though maybe my eyes mistaken me, but hope not because it's nice.

Actually, your eyes are mistaking you both in real life and in-game. :P

The reason the moon appears big near the horizon is because it is big relative to the other points of reference surrounding it. If the moon is up in the skies it will appear small because you have nothing else to compare it to. It's a well known illusion.

I stumbled over some bandits that had kill a woman that was per her journal trying to get back a family heirloom (some jewelry).
I found the heirloom on the body of one of the bandits and then put it in the dead woman's inventory.

Some friends of the bandits attacked at that point and I used a Resurrection scroll on the woman to help me fight them off.

We won, then she started to turn to dust and said to me with her last raspy dying breath.... "Thank You".

Creepy! But very Cool!

It was probably a coincidence of some kind with the caned voice files but man that was great and even if it was just luck it would not have happen without Bethesda work to include so much detail in their game.

I agree about how well they did the sound.

I recently downloaded Dawnguard and noticed a few new little tweeks here and there. (no spoilers)

So, as I was doing a quest out on the ice during a blizzard this morning, I was impressed by this new wind sound slowly starting to rise around me. What a great effect which increased my immersion! As the storm blew on and the whistling became more intense (and me more impressed) I suddenly realized I had put a tea kettle on to boil, and that's what I was actually hearing!

But yes, I love all of the little details and the AI of your opponents when in combat. Those little buggers can really dodge arrows now.

Although, I do miss the tauntings from Oblivion, just a bit...

I found the heirloom on the body of one of the bandits and then put it in the dead conman's inventory.

Some friends of the bandits attacked at that point and I used a Resurrection scroll on the woman to help me fight them off.

We won, then she started to turn to dust and said to me with her last raspy dying breath.... "Thank You".

Lol, it was coincidental, but moments like this end up being some of the best, so it may have been coincidental, but role playing wise, its real! Thats what I love about this game.

Some dragons don't attack if you leave them alone. Orcs have pointed ears. Eating bugs restores your stamina.
