Surprised at the Lack of Concern over HDD Texture Issue

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 7:53 am

Hi, I just joined. I've been reading all over the web about this texture problem, and I can assure you it is a real issue, even though i don't believe I;m allowed to post proof, from what the Gamefaqs guys tell me. I'm surprised at the lack of concern, as this is a substantial issue for those who value immersion. Inconsistency in visuals is quite jarring. What worries me, and is extremely probable, is that 1.1 will not fix the issue, and the issue will go unnoticed or ignored by Bethesda, delaying a patch indefinitely. It would help were some reviewers getting wind of it, but idk if they install there games or not. What svcks is if you install it, the world looks much better, but your character model svcks, which is pretty disruptive. If you play on disc, your character looks fine, but the world is lower quality. This may go unnorticed by reviewers that play the game on disc. I really want some confirmation on the issue from Bethesda. Dark Souls was released completely broken in some regards, and From ignored the fanbase completely until the bad publicity caused them to release a patch for Japan, which made things worse. No, word on when a refined patch comes to the US, and it probably will never show up on 360. Bethesda would be pretty disgustin to follow in their tracks, it left a really bad and worrying taste in my mouth.

There will be a day one patch on the street release date that hopefully resolves it. Also a lot of people have been saying that's from old leaked footage, I don't have proof, but there's really no point [censored]ing at Bethesda for something that's not 100% or could very well be fixed in the patch. For now we have to be optimistic, no point in getting all worked up until you have all the facts.

Wait until the game comes out, then you can tell the what to fix.

If you are buying skyrim because you are looking for a game with the best graphics, then you should stop. Don't get me wrong, Skyrim graphics is great, but its not made to be a benchmark. For us TES fans, the game looks great as it is.

firstly...paragraphs are your friend as a solid block of text is horrible.

second, theres really no point in discussing textures etc until you actually have a screen to look at to see them.

lastly, even if the textures are crap, the first hi res tex pack will no doubt be released within a week,as i knowa few who are already setup to work on them, not everyone jumps in and plays the game, lots just rip it to pieces and start improving it for the high end system owners.

so stop worrying, its a TES game, probably the most modded series ever.

The problem here is, that its likely that the day one patch won't. Especially considering it's a cross platform patch...the PS3 and PC should not suffer from this issue, so why the exact same patch? What will give it away is the patch size on 360 compared to the other platforms. I'm willing to bet we'll be stuck with this....

What are you basing this on? The patches are obviously gonna be different for all the consoles, i.e. fixing different bugs. That could include texture problems on the Xbox while fixing objects falling through floors on the PS3, we have no idea. Patches fix things, why would you exclude an obvious problem (if it actually exist) from being something that gets patched?

EDIT: Halo 3 also had problems where the game actually loaded and performed worse while installed to your HDD, that eventually got fixed, so why wouldn't Bethesda look into this issue?

Are some people here ignorant of the problem? I don't know guys...if you go and look up what I'm talking about, it isn't so much that the graphics don't look "perfect",(I was expecting Fallout: NV level visuals, myself), it's that some of the visuals look N64 quality in terms of texturing, and this is not an exaggeration. One comparison photo was extremely shocking in terms of how it rendered the Player characters hands. Completely atrocious. Like waaay below Ps2 quality. It was like a solid color. PC and PS3 are not options for me. I wouldn't be complaining about something so trivial if it wasn't a serious issue.

T_T It's obvious that even if it IS a legitimate problem they will fix it in very short order. Lets make even more threads now.

Its a supposed issue that can happen if you install it to the HDD(a lot are skeptical because the reports are from questionable sources). No ones really concerned though because if its not getting fixed on the day 1 patch, it will be one of Bethesdas top priorities to fix.

Plus, were used to bugs here.

Even if it takes them a little while and I have to do some cache clearing I don't mind. I get the feeling I probably wont even notice it all that much. Could be wrong but I'm not worried.

Any confirmation from Bethesda that there will be a patch to fix this specific issue? The game is officially available in Belgium and Netherlands since yesterday and got the 360 version myself. Really hate to play from the DVD due to noise. And the issue is definitely there!

I'm surprised about the lack of peoples' ability to 5TFU about stuff like this until you SEE IT FOR YOURSELF WHEN THE GAME ARRIVES.

I don't see how people can just say stuff like that. You're money is going towards this game. Games are expensive. Shouldn't you want the quality of your purchase assured before you put the game in your disc drive and are unable to get your money back at all? Some foresight and worry is always a good idea; you shouldn't just wait for stuff to happen...

Also, as I said, PC and PS3 are no options for some people.

And its also been confirmed cache clearing doesn't help.

PS3 FTW.
This.

And any & call complications were on pirated version. This is a common issue with pirated crap, so I would wait and see.

What do you want us to do OP, cry out in horror, grab our torches and pitchforks and march up the [censored] cliff to confront this problem? A huge majority of the people on this forum have nothing to go by except for what a couple people on the game-faqs forums are claiming. Considering Xbox 360 was their lead platform, and if this problem does exist, you can bet yourself it'll be fixed VERY soon if not immediately. Just wait and let the masses sink their teeth into their steak, and if this is in-fact a major issue, then expect a fix.

We live in the time of the generation of apathy, I'm afraid. Consumers are lax and submissive.

Actually yes, that would work perfectly. That would definitely alert them to the problem and that we won't tolerate it. =]

And again, this is NOT an issue form pirated copies. This is surfacing in pretty much every retail edition played.

Maybe I'm just hardcoe, but I don't give a damn if hands look like they straight outta the '90s.
I enjoyed the other Elder Scrolls games just fine, as I did the N64.

It's not supposed to be that way and you're fine with it? I stick by my claim.

Given the nature of what is suppose do be causing the issue. From what I know of software this shouldn't be too big of an issue to fix. Could very well be wrong but I doubt it.
