Surrender to npcs?

I accidentally shouted at a chicken and now I get a bunch of NPCs attacking me. I tried to surrender. I sheathed my weapon and attempted conversation. Nothing works. I even tried killing the npcs but they will just crouch for a minute and then get back up and keep attacking me. Worst part is I need to talk to this npc to continue my quest.

This game is so stupid...

naw, bethesda just have a thing for chickens (did you know that they used to be part of an elite plain-clothes police squad in skyrim before the elves took over? it's true, if a chicken saw you commit a crime they'd report it to the guards and you'd have a bounty on your head)


i just find it funny when you say: "i accidently shouted at a chicken"

chicken: buck?
you: STUPID CHICKEN, GET LOST!
guard: THEN PAY WITH YOU BLOOD!
