Will the survival still in New Vegas allow the player to build camp fires and such?

I think you could build a fire regardless. The survival skill just improves upon what you get from cooked food I think.

Yeah you can cook food anywhere there's fire I believe but your survival skill determines how much the food heals and I think how much the hunger meter goes back up in hardcoe...

Is fire really going to improve the taste of ant meat? Rad roach meat? I'll take a 200 year old Salsbury Steak thank you. And the option to cook it with my flamer.

I just hope the survival skill gives some incentive to use the cannibal perk.

No matter how you cook a Rad Roach, it'd still taste like a boot. :laugh:

@Aonaran- Cannibalism? Ew :sad:

Cannibalism better count towards meeting hunger requirements otherwise I'm calling some serious BS.

If I ate John Goodman, I would not go starving that day.

I noticed you made a spelling error there. :whisper:

Oh man, i'm not sure anything cooked with a flamer would be edible lol. and it would probably taste like gasoline :)
I really hope that we will be able to set up some kind of small campsite with a fire and a bedroll, otherwise that sleep deprivation thing will be a pain.

But who knows.

I presume one of the aspects of the Survival skill is that it is used to determine how well you prepare and cook the meals, which in turn helps determine how effective they are at filling the hunger meter and how refreshing/healing they are for you.

You did too, Colonel. =P

And if you guys get to cook your food with a flamer, I want to cook mine with my good ole heavy incinerator. The flame'll never go out. :D
