Suspicious Steam Request

Post » Mon Nov 12, 2012 2:31 am

Earlier on I tried to install a mod from the Steam Workshop. When I got onto the site it'd logged me out without my permission, which wasn't surprising. What was surprising is the message I got when I tried to log on. It said it appeared that I was logging on using a new browser or different computer, and it wanted a verification code so I could log in. Uh??? But this is the very same computer and browser I've been using since June! Anyone know what could've caused this strange message? Could I have been hacked?

I think it's just a thing that happens from time to time. I'd change your password to be safe.

Have you updated your web browser lately to a new version ?? IIRC the last time Firefox updated the next time I logged in it sent me one of those e-mails.

This has happened to me too, I'd not worry, but do change your password to err on the side of caution.

This is normal behavior when logging in with a web browser, actually. At least, it always has been for me. For the record, I have history, cache, and cookies automatically wiped so that may have something to do with it.
