Sweet Marriage Proposals

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 11:36 am

What have you guys and girls done for your "special days"? Not being one for just buying an Amulet and asking for meals occasionally, I decided to take a longer route, picking Brelyna Maryon from Winterhold. We went through the Mage's Guild questline together, and I ended up finding an Amulet of Mara in the quest at Mzulft out of sheer dumb luck. So I thought "why not?" and decided to go through with it. After I completed the Mage's Guild questline, I took her to the scenic bridge at Alftand at midnight, gave her the Amulet of Saarthal and popped the question with the three moons out. We then promptly got attacked by a Frost Dragon, as you do.

Let me know if you've done anything cool for your marriage proposal, hope I'm not the only one here!

Haven't made detailed plans besides reverse pick pocketing a gold diamond engagement ring into my lady's inventory.

Malborn proposed to me in the New Gnisis Cornerclub, after I typed in console commands to make him marriable. I guess a bar isn't the most romantic location, but the wedding turned out nice though. He was smiling the whole time and afterward too. We walked through Riften side by side after the wedding.

Ancano on the other hand... when I used a mod to marry him, he killed everyone at the temple, and left without marrying me. That kind of svcked.

That's pretty cool. My character's wife is not a follower, so his options were more limited. As a devout Dibellan, he is very happy with his priestess wife Senna. Since they live in Markarth, he is constantly suggesting that they move back to her place, just so he can walk with her the short distance from the house to the Dibella chapel. He thinks she is very sixy when she prays. Then they enjoy a short walk back to the house. As an agent of Dibella, he also collects and adorns his Markarth bedroom with Dibella statues.

"So, Aela. I heard you're a Werewolf."

"Yes."

"No way! I'm a Werewolf, too! We should like, totally get married!"

"There's someone in Rorikstead that needs you to clean their house out for them. Some beasts moved in."

"Is...is that a yes?"

I don't really do the whole marriage thing. Kinda wish there was an alternative for characters living the bachelor life but whatever, apparently monogamy is the bee's knees in Skyrim.

Well, my Khajiit is already married... to Sylgja. We had a nice anniversary though. I felt like wrestling so I knocked her around a few times. She finally said "One more time, and I'll have to kill you!" It was so cute the way she said that, so of course, I hit her again. Well, that was that, and then she came after me with her pickaxe while spouting anti-Khajiit sentiment like "Skyrim is for the Nords!" and "Your kind doesn't belong here!" She's such a kidder.

Also funny was the reaction of Argis the Bulwark, my loyal housecarl--- sworn to protect me and everything I own. "I'm getting out of here!" he exclaimed, while Sylgia repeatedly impaled me with her pickaxe. "Frost troll? I'll protect you!" "Necromancer? I'll protect you!" "Angry housewife? @#$! that! You're on your own!"

Well.. I don't know.. I guess all of it involves a little roleplay. My Dibellan spellsword loves Senna and she doesnt have to lift a finger. Just enjoy all of her wealth in Markarth. But, as a devout Dibellan, he loves females.. and really has too many for his own good.

Lydia guards/has Breezehome all to herself.
Jordia guards/has Solitude all to herself.
Iona guards/has Honeyside all to herself.

His arch-mage quarters almost functions like a bachelor's pad, since it is his only domicile that is not claimed by one of his "women".
A heavily buffed out Ria spends many a night there after a rough adventure.
Breylana and Areona Ienith are also very close associates who spend a lot of time there.

It makes for a very good bachelor pad, even for a happily married character.

Farkis - "So you're lookin' fer marriage then?"
Player - "You're interested in me?"
Farkis - "Won't lie, I am"

Such flowery proposals crack me up. They don't mess around in Skyrim. Think of some of my friends dating for years (and years) before getting engaged and then it takes a year and a half do finally do the deed (and then more years before they squeak a kid in before infertility rears its ugly head).

I just had a character get married for the first time. My male orc married Borgakh the Steel Heart. He smithed matching full suits of legendary Orcish armor and special weapons, and enchanted all her stuff up with double enchantments to keep her safe. He also enchanted the ring he gave her for the ceremony and a gold diamond necklace.

Haha, I hate it when the housecarls take over your house and refuse to leave. Me and Brelyna are planning on moving to Markarth when we're not busy at Winterhold, looking for Dwemer ruins and kicking Dragon ass, although we have to find it first (I'm lv29 and it's the only hold I haven't been too :P) My character's like a Dwemer researcher, so where better to move than a former Dwarven city? :P

I'd like to see a mod that allows for a one night stand. Amulet of Dibella replaces the Amulet of Mara, obviously.

Would be a nice alternative. Would also be nice if my character didn't have to get married just break himself off a piece.

All my characters so far have been doomed to die alone...

^ That would have fit them a lot more nicely.

Farkas - "Won't lie, I am"

His brother has one of the most romantic responses too:

Vilkas: An amulet of Mara? You're not married? Surprising...
Player: Are you interested in me?
Vilkas: I'd be glad to stand at your side until the Divines take us. I-If you'll have me.

I didn't even plan it, but the way my main character proposed was actually rather scenic and nice. He had found out how marriage works in Skyrim and still remembered the words Muiri told him once he finished her quest. He decided to take a shot in the dark at love and went to Markarth. By the time he arrived, it was nightfall. He went to the Hag's Cure to find her but found her on the walkway in front of the waterfall. She noticed his Amulet of Mara and expressed her surprise. The two ended up being interested in each other and got married the next day. It was a nice proposal; Masser and Secunda were full and the two of them looked at each other as thin wisps of mist cascaded over them from the waterfall. It was very nice all things considered. :)

I set up a flash mob with the Whiterun guards.

...

I was about to make a knee joke, but I think I'll spare everyone.
