I'm swimming in money

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 10:45 pm

If they tried t make finding money in this game "harder" the failed miserably. I'm currently walking around with 15 thou, I've owned 3 horses, and I have a house. All you have to do is pick up all the gold you see and do quests/miscellaneous objectives.

Whoever isn't swimming in dough after 30-60 hours...well...how NOT?

Spend it leveling perks at the trainers and you'll soon be broke.

I spend it on anything I can get...I think I spend it on potions the most. But, I spend it on horses the most too. Since I kill my horse all the time I need a new one.

Way to be lazy. I call that just wasting gametime.

oblivion was also really easy to get money in cause the facts are you hardly ever buy anything from shops because you can find better or make better items yourself. so u end up ecumalating large sums of money. on my char lvl 22 i have 4 houses all maxed out i got a hourse or two(but they always die) and i still have 17 k in the bank

What pissed me off was when Brynolf was all like "Yeah, you didn't earn any of that money your a thief".

Well [censored] you buddy, you don't know me. I never stole a cent of money. You try wiping out the Silver Hands, Defeating evil Necromages, and slaying Dragons, and tell me I didn't [censored] earn my money.

Agreed, I have over 60k and I'm only level 30 lol. Then again, I'm a hoarder and I make trips to multiple different cities just to unload all my loot after each dungeon.

I would have more money if the damn merchants had enough to buy all my stuff... as it is I walk around permanently almost-overencumbered with decently-priced items....

Yeah, I usually have to visit like 3-5 different venders to sell off all my stuff.

Tip if you're married:

Spoiler
Wife sets up a shop in your house, she accepts all types of items and usually has a decent amount of money ($1500 or so). And she cuts you in on part of the profit each day so you get even more! lol.

How the hell are people making so much money? I'm able to make 4 thousand at the most, and even then it doesn't last long. Maybe I shouldn't use trainers so much..

I'm with you on this. I use all my money to level up lockpicking, because I don't know why, but I have the worst possible skill/luck when it comes to that.

I'm level 26 have played for almost 40 hours and just saved up enough money to buy a house in Solitude, 25k. I don't know how you have so much money really. You must fast travel or something. Maybe stop fast traveling everywhere. I've only discovered two cities so far and have yet to start the main quest. And I'm currently at 2k gold.

It is certainly harder to make money than in Oblivion. Gone are the days when you can clear out rock milk cave of it's glass and deadric wearing enemies and make 35k+ in one haul, sold to one vendor.

In Oblivion you could have enough money to buy the most expensive house in the game (rosethorn hall) often before having 16 fame (the requirement), and be under level 10 or something. I really doubt anyone can buy the house in solitude at level 10.

Anyway It is harder to make money but not impossible by any means. It's better but not perfect. I wish there were more money sinks in the game and a jerk came around to collect property tax once in a while, or they demanded a tithe at the altars to be blessed, etc.

I'll probably make a mod that doubles the prices of the houses, or adds more optional packages to improve them so you can dump more cash but have some benefits. LIke where is the basemant with your own forge and enchanting altar? 25k for that would keep us busy for a while.

Or maybe have the local smith charge you like 500 gold to use his stuff for one month. It's up to you to craft enough stuff to turn a profit on that expense.
