Swinging blade traps

So I've started a new game, and am going through the usual starting dungeon that's your first real quest basically. Sending you to a dangerous dungeon(their words) this early strikes me as a bad idea from the start. Okay, so there are some fairly weak enemies along the way, one stronger enemy that's non-threatening due to it's inability to pass through doorways, a few traps that are easily avoided, and then this. This thing is not okay with me. No sane character would ever try to just run past these things. Plus, you can see that, were there a crawl function, they could be more safely crawled under. So I did something that I really don't feel I should have to do, but I'm playing dead is dead on master and I don't feel like chancing a mistimed sprint. I turned around and left the dungeon, quest not completed. Because that's the only option someone who's actually mortal would do at this point.

I understand not everyone has an issue with playing an idiotically brave protagonist, but TES I feel should be better than this.

They were in Oblivion as well, you know.

It's all about timing, one blade at a time.

(unless you're talking about a very, very specific dungeon and not just the normal swinging blade traps)

I know how to get past them, and I have done so before. But in a dead is dead playthrough, playing a character that's not borderline suicidal, there's no way he's going to risk his life for this quest. Basically, I'll have to wait until I get become ethereal shout.

Hmm.

That's not my dead-is-dead approach at all :D I have the opposite mentality. I hate getting all the way to level 35 with a character, because then I just restart or have him killed in an epic manner to force myself to restart.

But I see where you're coming from with this. But I don't like the alternative, that there wouldn't be dangerous situations like that in the game. Where would the fun be then?

Then you better not fight any dragons either... or any high level enemy out there at all.

... actually, might as well not do anything and live a peaceful farmer's life...

I'm not suggesting there shouldn't be dangerous situations in the game. The problem is that this is the first dungeon you're sent to, you don't even really know how important it is. Later on, when you're saving the world, you've got a reason to risk life and limb for things.

And I'm also saying, if it looks like there's a better way to get past something, it should be an option. I mean, it's really extremely obvious that you could crawl under it. Or you could attempt to jam them. They give you one option, and it's not a good one nor does it look like it should be the only one. I'm just noticing it's a pretty lame moment in the game after you view from the perspective of a mortal character.

Become Ethereal, Fortify Health, try to dodge them?

And Dwarven ruins were always amongst one of the more harder places...

To me they are an opportunity to kill that BigBadtm at the end that would rip my character apart in a fair fight. If I can get through this, then I can get back through it while the dumb dead guy with the horned helmet and big axe follows, more slowly.

LOL
I do think it's quite funny that you're playing a DiD character and actually complaining about this because you could lose your character. :D
Just leave it and come back later, what's the problem with that?

You seem overly indignant to be honest, particularly given your chosen playstyle...

I'm going to leave it and come back later, my point is I wish the content were -

* Better at easing you into the world instead of just throwing you into a dungeon where you could easily die (Why would they expect you, and you alone, to survive such a place anyway?)
* Considerate that not all characters will borderline suicidally brave/stupid hero types
* Open to more methods of solving problems (in this case, just crawling)

It just doesn't sit right with me. It's not game breaking, I understand this is TES and it's not exactly a realistic survival game, but they do aim for immersing you in their game world and this doesn't help with that aim.
