Switching spells efficiently

It seems like the number hotkeys are the only method of switching between spells in a manner that doesn't require me to go through both the Magic Menu AND the Items Menu.
And 8 keys are not sufficient, I need to have much more spells at hand.

The Favourites Menu would be useful but here is the problem:
I choose a spell for each hand. Then I want to switch to two different spells. It only lets me choose another spell for the LEFT hand.
The earlier spell is permanently bound to the right hand. The only way to assign new spells to both hands is either the number keys (too limited) or going to the Items Menu and equipping a melee weapon to the right hand, then unequipping it, THEN going to the Magic Menu and assigning a new spell to the right hand. As a mage, I find it very frustrating that I have to CONSTANTLY go through the superfluous step of opening the Items Menu, instead of more conveniently using the Favourites Menu for everything.

I tried searching the forums and didn't find any threads about this issue. Am I the only one who is experiencing this bug?

It will take time until patch 1.2---
Would it be possible to fix something like this without the Creation Kit?

yeah i wish there would be a quicker way to change stuff, especially on the xbox. its so tedious having to either go to your favourites or open up your inventory.

What would be really cool is if you could assign entire PROFILES to the d-pad keys or # keys. Where one button would instantly equip your favorite clothes, weapons and magic for a given situation.
For example:
Aimless wanderer profile #1: Light armor, R=conjure familiar, L=weapon of choice.
Dungeon Diver profile #2: Heavy armor, R=conjure Atronach, L=Healing.
Profile #3: Townie: Speechcraft amulets, no weapons,
etc.etc.
I find I switch a lot for different situations. And those are often the same things. Having them pre-arranged in a profile type inventory would be very convenient.
