I've decided to make a Warrior character for the first time ever in Skyrim. I've usually gone down the ''Assassin'' route when it comes to characters as I find them the most fun to play with, but I want to try something different.

So, when it comes to armour.. Light or Heavy?

I'm personally thinking Light, because I already have the shield as protection and it will allow me to move around faster. However, I'm planning to use this warrior on master difficulty, so will the extra heavy armour be needed?

As for race, I'm thinking Nord or an Imperial, still undecided on that though..

if you have great smithing abilities you can get light armor to hit the armor cap. Though it may take some dabbling in enchanting or alchemy. If you dont plan on doing that then go heavy i guess.

Either one works...if you go heavy, grab the steed stone....that solves any mobility issues heavy armor is easier early game, but by mid/later lvls light works very well also

If you're playing on Master, some of those stat bonuses can take some of the sting out of playing on master early on, so I'd go Nord for Light Armor and Imperial for Heavy, not that its a huge deal.

Heavy Armor gives you better AR early on, but Light Armor gives you more mobility and you can get the same high AR with either. It really depends on your playstyle, I'm not the type to keep a character to real high levels or worry about the armor cap.

To me if you're going Sword-n-Board, you're basically playing a sort of tank. You shouldn't need to move around fast because you should be eating damage with your shield, so Heavy Armor makes more sense. For a Duel-Wield or Two-Handed character light armor is probably better though since you can't get smacked around on master without a shield, and it's better to be able to dodge.

The pickpocket Deep Pockets perk works well too.

I have a character right now who I play mostly on expert and she has a light armor body piece (Guild Master Armor), the Helm of Yngol (Heavy), and Ebony Boots/Gauntlets (Heavy) and I've still cleared 300 AR. If you're a skilled player you really don't need much more then 300 AR.

If you're a dummy and insist on standing right in front of that Ancient Dragon's mouth, hit the armor cap, play a Breton and then max out magic resistance, and make sure you get enchantment to 100 in your early 20s.

Heavy Armor and Block sort of become redundant if you specc them both all the way. I say either light armor or alteration if your going to use a shield (light armor since you're a warrior).

You can weapon bash with a two-handed weapon, or a one-handed weapon and nothing in the other. The best part of block isn't the extra AR from the shield, its the weapon bash.

I've been going light armor with block lately. It's too bad there are less light shields to work with, though.

With a shield you don't really need armor if you use it well. Give it a shot, it's fun.

Personally I think that light armor makes for a more fun (albeit way harder in the beginning) game, you need to move around a lot more and time your attacks/blocks.
