Best PC requirements we could have asked for.

Ouch. I guess I'll have to wait until my next rig. Shame, I figured XP would keep me going until the next console generation.

Hehe, yeah, it only been 2 months since I got rid of XP myself.

My CPU is slightly below minimum though (dual core 2.8GHz instead of 3.0GHz), but I expect it to run fine regardless.

Well at least I know I am never getting rid of 7. If Linux had the ease of access and support of the mainstream Windows then I would switch over in a heart beat.

Depending on how a 1 gig 8800 GT compares to the minimum specs I may only need another 2 gigs of RAM (on top of the OS upgrade, obviously). I hate to upgrade my OS right now, it's a lot of bother when I was planning to get a brand new system in about a year, but if the only hardware bump I need is RAM I may be convinced to upgrade.

wut!?

No XP, 4gb ram, HD5850..... are you kidding me? It's a UE3 game, this requirements have no sense.

If Arkane have nothing to comment, I think that I'm going to cancel my pre-order.

Well with the lack of XP you can look at it like this.

Vista requires 2 gig of ram in itself, so you're gonna need some more to run the game too.

Yeah 4 gigs for minimum can't be right.

Seems a bit steep, but checks out for my comp. I have a feeling Dishonored is going to be a strong candidate for GOTY.

ATI Radeon HD 5850 512MB as the minimum? That sounds much higher than it needs to be. I can run pretty much any game that's out today on reasonably high settings with my HD4850 512MB, in 1080p resolution.

Since they mention the exact same card in the recommended settings as in the minimum settings, the only difference being VRAM, makes me think the minimum cards are actually supposed to say something else. I don't think the game looks that good graphically.

Unless you can barely alter the graphics settings at all (which is unlikely) you'd think that the gap between minimum and recommended graphics cards would be more than 'exact same card + 256MB VRAM'.

Same here, sadly. Been looking forward to Dishonored for the past year, but I don't think I can run it. I have 16GB RAM and a quad core CPU, but my graphics card is the 1GB 5830 mobility, based on the desktop 5770.

These minimum specs are higher than Witcher 2 (Nvidia 8800 / AMD 3850), and that game barely runs at 1280x720 on my system on lowest possible settings, although Skyrim runs great at 1920x1080 with most settings maxed.

Oh wow, didn't catch that. Yes, I hope you're right!

Your GPU is a bottleneck yes, but your powerful CPU might just be able to take the fall for it, like it did with skyrim. No promises though so I hope they release a demo so you can try it out. If you set things on low you should be able to get rid of most of those pesky shaders and let the CPU do most of the job. If Im not mistaken Dishonored runs on the Unreal engine, have you been able to try out and run any recent unreal engine games? That might give you a clue

http://www.bethblog.com/2011/10/25/skyrim-system-requirements-announced/ listed "DirectX 9 compliant card with 512MB VRAM" for the minimum spec card (meaning any DX9 card with at least 512MB VRAM could at least run the game), compared with "1GB GTX 260 / AMD 4890" for the recommended spec card.

I wonder if the minimum card listed for Dishonored was intended to be simply "DirectX 9 compliant card with 512MB VRAM," which would be the same as Skyrim's minimum spec card, basically any DX9 card with at least 512MB VRAM.

ME3 uses Unreal Engine 3 and it runs great on my laptop at 1080p, all settings maxed except AA IIRC, a bit of lag in cutscenes with lots of fire FX.

I just checked wikipedia, the HD5850 and GTX 460 don't even seem to have 512 MB versions. The HD5850 has 1024MB and 2048MB, the GTX460 has 768 MB and 1024MB.

Looks like a typo then.

i'm guessing we are going to need steam for this too? isn't it common enough that it should start to be listed as a system requirement as well??

Yes you do need Steam for it as well. And in most cases it is listed.

It seems like a typo to me as well. If Dishonored is a dx 9 game then there is no reason why you should need a very powerfull GPU to run it. It might be that they require some advanced shader models but that seems unlikely. If they made a game that require later shader models and therefore high end GPU's, why not just go for dx 10 or 11 effects at the same time? Most likely as long as you have the right amount of video memory and dx support then you should be fine

Also, if you can run ME3 fine then I would say it's a pretty good bet you can make Dishonored work somehow as well. Nothing is certain though so don't take my word for it

According to a "Can I run this site...," only the graphics card for my phantom computer stands in the way despite the CPU being lower than recommended. It'd be nice if I had a chance at this. I'd pony up for a copy for PC too.
