Oh hell to the mother frakkin' yeah! And at only $10 with all the GOG extras included? SOLD!

RPS: Will there be any extras included with the GOG download? Soundtracks and the like?

Rambourg: Yes, indeed. With the help of Stephen, we’ve pulled out all of the stops to make this a virtual collector’s edition. In addition to the soundtrack, the GOG.com version of the game will have concept art, maps of the Von Braun, a interview with Ken Levine, the first pitch document, and much more.

Apparently it might come to Steam later as well.

So, is it just System Shock 2 and not 1? I haven't played either game in decades and it'd be cool to run through both of them back to back.

It's just the second. From what I understand (based on reading the thread on the GOG forums), the licences aren't interconnected.

:celebration:

What do you reckon, going to be the fastest-selling game ever on GOG? I know I'm picking it up!

I wonder if this version will be compatible with Vista. Every time I try to play the demo it ends up freezing on me not matter what the compatibility I set it on.

There are mods out that fix the compatibility with more modern computers.

So if I buy this GoG version will those patches or mods or whatever come with it?

According to the article they made their own tweaks, but I'd still use the mod as it adds a whole bunch of fixes and features.

GOG versions of games are made specifically to work on modern systems right away.

The last fan patch was really good though, I don't know if whoever's releasing this can do a better job with their own fixes so maybe we will need those fan patches after all.

I couldn't get System Shock 2 working well no matter what I tried (a couple of years ago, on XP and W7), so hopefully Night Dive's optimizations work.

The latest fan patch (which was believed to be based on a System Shock 2 source code leak, it came out of nowhere and the authors are still unknown) was incredible, I don't know how they can top that. It fixed everything. It can be used for Thief/Thief 2 as well, and it's much better than the old DDFix fix that GOG is still using for the Thief games.

Might as well release the game with that patch and call it a day. There isn't much else to do. We'll see. If it's not as good, hopefully the patch will still work. But I can understand that they wouldn't just want to bundle it with the mystery patch, there's probably a reason that that thing was released anonymously on some french forum. Wouldn't want EA coming after you...

They've even got a countdown.

It's pretty exciting to see System Shock 2 on GoG, but I reckon the countdown is probably overdoing it.

I don't know, it does have nearly 35k votes on their community wishlist, with only Grim Fandango coming close to it (at almost 26k votes). So I could see why they'd add a little hype by doing the countdown seeing as how it's the most requested game. And a pretty damn awesome game at that.

Oh please please please yes let it come to steam and/or GOG, ive had a blazing want to play and THERE IS NO BLEEDING WAY im paying half a months worth of my bills just to get it off amazon!

Because i want to see what people are raving about in terms of its quality!

P.S: random question, i know there are some training paths you take at the start that determines your starting skills and equipment, what do you suggest for someone who isnt afraid to fight and likes to explore the entire area that they are in before pushing on? Because that's me in a nut shell
