Taking Screenshots help

Post » Wed Nov 07, 2012 12:30 pm

I don't want to use Steam for my screenshots it's slow and clunky and I have no interest in sharing my pictures with anyone on Steam. I just want to press printscreen and paste it into paint to store on my computer.
How can I do this? I've managed to get a few shots from steam into My Pictures but it always takes a bunch of trial and error. There must be some simple way to do this. Help?

Skyrim.ini:
[Display]bAllowScreenshot=1

Pressing *PrintScreen should make a screenshot in your Skyrim directory and/or capture what's on screen which you can also paste into paint or whatever. I don't use Steam for that either.

You shouldn't need an extra application running to manage as TESV.exe's got it covered. You can even choose which format the pics are...

*Fn+Shift+F11 if using an Apple keyboard

I use FRAPS to set up the Printscreen key to take screenshots, and store them in the desired folder. I can open them for editing in a graphics program later.

Irfanview is a great (open source) free desktop program for editing (and for uploading results). It's a drag and drop your screenshot into Irfanview, save-as a jpeg and then a straight upload, or to you file, Has fast pic adjustments, including gamma adjust.

This is how I do it. The only thing I haven't figured out is how to change what form they're in. Mine save as .bmp by default, which is obnoxious.

Which is why I got Fraps and just let it run in the background (not a problem on my system altho other people's mileage may vary). Allows me to save in other formats plus I get to pick the folder they go to, I really don't like poking around in my game folder just to find screenshots.
