Tanning 100 hides... or smelting 100 ores...

dont like the crafting system either. click click click click....

there was a mod for oblivion called craftybits where you actually craft things properly. like cooking, you pick up a bag of flour, place it on a crafting board and add an egg, you get dough. add icing to that dough and you get sweetroll dough, pick it up, place it in a fireplace, wait 20 seconds and out comes your bread/sweetroll. it levels your alchemy skill too. plus they have heaps of other stuff like mining and smelting, armour crafting, fletching.. where to make arrows, you cut at a tree with a knife to get arrow shafts (better quality trees = better arrow shafts) mine rocks and break them down into arrow heads (you can even used welkynd and varla stones).. kill an animal and skin it to get a hide. cooked hide = hide glue. put the arrow shafts + hide glue + arrow heads onto the crafting board and you get a set of arrows

I'm just going to point out the giant pink mammoth in the room. We have all hit far more than 100 buttons making and replying to this topic.

There is my 2 cents, or my 100 clicks.

Level of irrelevance... about 100 clicks.

That's so... so stupid.

Why does the most important part of smithing not level your smithing?
No idea. Though I do know most people just buy the ingots. Buy ingot, fast travel next town, buy more.... Stop in Whiterun to forge 300 iron daggers with your 300 ingots... :unsure2:

This thread is a one-time occurrence. Crafting, or what passes for it in Skyrim, is a recurring event done Talos knows how many times by me and millions of other long-suffering clickers. It needs dealt with.

Its so as you can roleplay the mindnumbing tedium of having a mundane boring job.

True, but I do love it. I love mining, I love tanning, I love smelting. Heck I can't help but turn the grind wheel when I see one and it does nothing. Granted they could have made it where you just walk up to some ore in the ground and click it and all the ore is in your inventory, but I much prefer the mining animation along with the others. Just makes it seem more like you are a real person doing these things.

on the 360 it takes a couple seconds.

I have never done that, in 500 hours of play. On occasion, if I didn't have an ebony ingot or a malachite ingot or whatever to improve a new item I'd just found, I might buy a couple of those as needed... but that's it.

Ah. So instead of click-click 200 times, it's pressbutton-click 200 times. That's a significant improvement :shakehead:

They really need to put some serious improvement into the crafting interfaces... even just adding a 'create all of this item please kthxbai' button at the bottom, would be mighty nice.

Although I agree with you on this matter you really shouldn't comment on how it is on the 360 if you aren't playing on that system. It's easier with the controller to be honest. There's no E then mouse click which can easily get out of sync causing issues. On the controller you just continuously tap the A button as fast as you can. It's over with in seconds. Don't get me wrong though because I totally agree that there should be a way to batch process things like this. There are lots of things about the interface I would love to see changed entirely. Ever toss a about 200 random items in a chest? Yea the organization there blows. There's lots of things like that in the game that could have been done so much better. I'm looking forward to when I get a new PC and can start modding again. I miss it this time although the game at least is very fun in vanilla mode.
