When I play Skyrim, the initial load, crashes as soomn as I use a weapon.
Then it remains stuck in the task manager and will not close. no matter what I do

I can load it again, and play fine...
but it's still got the old process running too.

and when I close the game and turn off my pc with shutdown. The process is still there and PC won't shut down...

Any ideas, as I don't want to have to turn off my pc , by holding down the power button, every time i play skyrim....

You can end the process tree(or the process) through the task manager.

that's exactly my point - it wont end the process... I go to End Process and it doesn't, and it won't shut down

Hi try this program Process Explorer v15.13 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653
it shows all processes & can kill them even system required proceses so only kill tesv.exe killing other things could crash ya system

taskkill /F /IM tesv.exe

try typing that in command prompt.

I finally worked it out, it was my 360 controller hanging the game. when I unplugged the controller from the usb, voila, the EXE process ended
once the new 360 driver was installed, and now all is well, no crashes , no freezes ... just Skyrim
