temporary freezing in menu

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 4:34 am

alot of times when I bring up the menu or the favorites screen the game menu will freeze not allowing me to move in it for 20 or 30 seconds.

love the game but this is a huge problem I a m having and I feel will get worse alot like fallout nv and its drop in frame rate that got worse over time.

Having the same troubles. I did notice that exiting the menu and moving your character to a new spot seems to correct it. Not sure why, but I hope this addressed in the patch, or a patch sometime soon because it is obnoxious.

I have the same bug, and it extends to other menus as well.
If I kill a Draugr and want his coin but not the sword, I have to wait 10 seconds to move down! It doesn't freeze, I can take/equip the item, but can't navigate. It's annoying as hell

Same here, my brother said it was worse on his game than mine. Passed out whilst he was playing.

Same for me. I actually signed up to this forum to see if anyone else was experiencing the same thing. It's pretty annoying.

Same issue here...which seems to be he response everybody has. Which is good to know since now we know its a widespread issue but doesn't help much...anybody have a solution to the issue? Or are we just waiting 10-30 seconds to loot gold since we don't want to "take all" just to get to the gold? Is anyone NOT havng this issue? What do those of us who ARE having this issue have in common?

I downloaded the patch, which didn't fix. Any other thoughts?

Gave the game a rest for a few hours and when I started back up the menu lag was gone.....weird. Don't know what happened, but I'm glad it did.

(Previous posted in similar thread, but applies here):

Found a fix to the unresponsive anolog in-menu problem. It's not gonna fix everyone's problem, but some of them. I have an old sixaxis and an old fat 40 or 80gb not sure(some people seem to think that controller type and/or PS3 body type are contributing to the issue)...anyway my original problem was that I was unable to access any menu without waiting 10-30 seconds before being able to scroll up and down within the menu, start menu, looting bodies and chests, and even the favorites menu.

On a hunch I deleted almost all of my other game saves and game installs that were on my PS3 (some people may not want to delete all but I did - except Mass Effect 3 Oblivion and Skyrim). With all of the newly available memory, my menus work almost perfectly. Sometimes still have to wait .5-1 second before Favorites Menu responds but i think thats the norm for PS3 verision. My friend who also bought at the same time as I did had the same problem and tried this and his is working now as well.

In short make plenty of room on the couch for Skyrim's fat ass. Hope this helps someone.

I have this issue as well but I found that is it the dpad that becomes unresponsive when I open a menu So now when I open the menu I'll do a quick scroll or tab on the left joystick and the dpad starts working right away. It's a glitch for sure my other games don;t seem to do it.

Let me know if this works for you as well

I started using just my new controllers and it fixed the menu lag. Thanks for the tip. This explains why It would only lag on me some of the time.
