I tend to expect games to work when I buy them

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 6:01 am

Well, enjoy my money. You gave me nothing for it. Call me crazy, but when I buy a game, I buy it expecting it will run fine on a high end computer. Would have loved to play the game, but the good people at ATI, Id, and Bethesda have made it impossible. Since I was confident enough to but this off steam (What could go wrong?) There's no way I'll be getting any money back. I was so stubborn about getting this game to work that I spent most of my day trying work-arounds and tips and fixes and everything else, which kind of sounds like I'm doing somebody's job for them. It's like every month the games have worse and worse releases. After a few years of development time under well know companies I expected something flawless. Get this worthless hunk of files off my computer, cause I don't see ATI or Id fixing it anytime soon.

Hmmm...why is it that there are only a few complaints relative to the thousands that have already been installed?

People are complaining all over the internet, not just here. Do a search - in every review column for PC, in forums, in youtube video comments...it's all over the place.

I suppose the fact that it doesn't work out of the box doesn't bother me as much as some others. I can shelf the game for now and play it when a patch or better drivers are released. It happens and the only reason there is so much fuss over it is because of the hype surrounding the release.

I have to wonder how much Ati and NVidia share blame in this. Ati in particular puts out a driver package that contains old OpenGL code if we are to believe them. That seems really sloppy to me almost like some guy at his desk is manually creating the driver package instead of having a automated build on a server to create the driver package.

These vendors should be doing whatever Id needs them to do as without PC Gaming people won't be buying these expensive video cards that can cost more then a Xbox360 or a PS3.

Hmmm... if you can read there aren't a few complaints. On here and on steam forums there are thousands of people complaining.

There were thousands of complaints but most of the issue have been fixed. Yes it is frustrating when games don't work right out the box but there are always things you can do to help your own cause. My copy of RAGE works fine now and all I had to do was wait half a day for a updated driver release. Now that it's fixed I've been playing for over 5 hours and this game is sweeeet! Venting your anger is all well and good and like I said before I understand 100%, but there is such a thing as beating a dead horse. I hope the issue is resolved for you guys ASAP because this game is really fun.

I don't doubt the game is fun, if anything I'm angrier with steam than anyone else. If I had a hard copy of the game I could just swap it out for the 360 version, but I'd rather pull my teeth out than deal with Steam's PR department. I'm mostly just frustrated that a game that was hyped up as much as this one didn't draw enough attention from nvidia or ati to make sure their cards can actually do what they're built for. It's not like I had artifacts or lag and started crying about it. I haven't even seen the damn menu screen yet.

Just because thousands don't post about it because obviously there is no answer and no point to cry about it beyond what has already been done, doesn't mean more people like me can't even remotely play the game. Get your head out of your [censored] and realize that the world doesn't revolve around 1 database of forums.

Damn, you're as dumb as I am. I expected the same thing. Don't we feel like a couple of svckers, Bethesda and id sure got us good. I hear you man, but I'm noticing a serious trend with Bethesda. This makes 3 major releases in a row that have completely failed to deliver on the quality front. I can't even get into my New Vegas experience, just an absolute nightmare.

Hi, I am so sorry you are having problems. If you want assistance with your problems with your game please feel free to document those problems in one of the open threads that are addressing your issues. This will assist developers in isolating problems and getting patches out more quickly. If there is no open thread about your issue, please feel free to start one after checking the pinned threads for solutions. There is nothing more that Id and Bethesda want than for all of their fans to enjoy their games.

Also you may want to contact support: http://support.gamesas.com/eng/products.asp as they may be able to further assist you.

Please however don't make threads just to rant. They are not helpful to you or any other members and serve only to displace posts from people actively seeking assistance or offering solutions to problems.

Again, I am sorry for your problems and hope a solution is found for you soon.
