TES Edit for Skyrim?

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 1:52 am

In the past I have been using the ES Construction Kit as well as TES4Edit when making mods. This time around TES4Edit doesn't seem to work with Skyrim. Is there a new version for Skyrim or is there a way to make it work?

The form architecture was so drastically changed from Oblivion to FO3, and there were even some big changes between FO3 and FONV. I can only imagine how drastically different they are between Oblivion and Skyrim.

The creater of all the previous xEdit apps is currently unable to make one for Skyrim, and cannot release the source code due to some proprietary bits of code. There are some efforts by other modders (using Java in at least one case) to replicate the functionality of xEdit, but they aren't in a public state yet AFAIK.

Here's the development http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1392239-wipz-tes5dumpfuture-tes5edit/ for TES5Edit, based on the code of the previous *EDIT programs.

And as MadCat221 mentioned, there's also http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1376366-wipz-jtes5edit-java-tes5edit-using-skyproc/, a WIP version in Java.
