I was thinking of adding an experimental place to Skyrim, where there are no quest entries and quest markers, like this:
The player enters the worldspace, or village, or whatever it is. There are plots to discover, people to side with or kill, factions to join or destroy, and lost items etcetera like in the normal Skyrim game, but you don't get any quest objectives. Instead, you get information from the people and you choose which information to act on, and the situation will change and people's attitudes towards you change depending on what you do. Simulated reality to live within, rather than a "game" to play through.
There would still have to be quests because thet's how the game is built to work, but they would be more like the generic dialogues and scripted events: "if you do this, people will react like that".
Since I'm by no means an experienced modder and my knowledge of scripting is very limited, it would require a lot of work. I don't see it as anything I'll necessaily go through with, don't know if it's even possible to implement in a way that feels meaningful to the player, but it's an idea that I have, and will at least experiment with, and if someone else likes it and wants to do something similar, go ahead!
