Really nice score, however I didn't think it would be any less.

Only one thing I was concerned about apparently came true:

Quote:
This menu can then quickly be brought up during a fight, pausing the action, so you swiftly adjust to the changing nature of a battle without having to page through the main menu system, though on PC an option to also bind items and spells to number keys would have been appreciated.

It surely would have. After watching a few videos in the heat of battle, it seems to break the flow of the game any time that you need to go to the main menu to use something.

Hopefully they'll patch that in, or it will be capable of being done through mods.

Hmm, someone focuses on the score instead of reading the content, why am I not surprised?

Based on their breakdown it should have got a 9.6, but I guess they only like a scale of 0.5...

EDIT: If you read their ratings guide, the way the define a ten fits Skyrim exactly, says may not be flawless, but flaws are easily overlooked. Well the only flaw I saw them give was the close combat was clunky, but they said it was easily overlooked...

Haha!

Skyrim: 9.5
Dark Souls 9.0.

Winner: Skyrim

So far, Skyrim seems to be getting high marks. I can't wait to see it for myself!

And guys, these early players are having a slightly problematic time because they don't have the day 1 patch for 11/11/11. Just letting you know!

Good review, very unusual from IGN. Obviously the reviewer in question has experience with RPGs, again that is very unusual, but most welcome.

It's true that the PC will have superior visuals but I'm content with my PS3. :)
