TESO will have microtransactions.

Aside from monthly subscriptions they are also adding a "fun" coin shop with using real money.

Just pointing this out for those who never heard the news yet, but you probably did...

And I can't add the link.. so just do your google searching or whatever.

There's already a thread about this: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1471218-cash-shops-in-a-p2p-game/

They never said it was an in game shop, its a vanity shop and World of Warcraft has one. Rift had one when it was P2P. They sell mounts and pets in the shop.

Matt Firor said the shop is for services like name changes and fun stuff like pets. This is straight from his mouth.

Stop spreading false rumors about microtransactions we don't even know if it will be in in game shop. It likely will be like World of Warcraft where you buy it online and its mailed to you in game.

People always overreact before they hear everything. I assume most of the people complaining thinks it's going to work like cash shops in F2P MMOs.

Do we know it's a vanity shop, until we do it's all speculation.

What's the problem? If I want to change my name to Tig 'ol' Bitties - is paying ZOS $5 in order to do so going to affect the game in any way?

Yes we know for a fact that it is. There is videos on the subject all over the internet. Matt Firor said "It will sell services like name changes and fun stuff."

If you believe Matt Firor, it's not speculation.

Every game has one of these in-game stores... For now, it's only a vanity shop. no pay-to-win stuff. If the game ever goes f2p/hybrid, then it might start carrying extras like +XP gain buffs, etc.

Vanity shop, cash shop, same thing. You pay for virtual items with real money. It's a cash shop. You can call a Honda a Ferrari, but it's still a Honda. Either way, it's only bad if it's not handled properly. Binding items to account / character is a must imo

I'm sorry but say its a cash shop which it isn't because vanity is what they have said it is...... cash shop implies it sells everything not just vanity items. Vanity implies it is vanity items. Therefore it isn't a cash shop. I still like how you

A cash shop is a shop where you buy ingame items for real money, vanity or otherwise, that's all there is to it.

Yes, they are both cash shops, but when you use the term cash shop you are implying that it sells items that affect gameplay. When you say a vanity shop you are implying that it only sells vanity items. That's why people don't use the word interchangeably. If you listen to Matt Firor closely you can hear that never utters the word "cash shop." He only says the word shop, because he knows what it implies to say "cash shop."

And this isn't even a surprise this is in the game. Matt Firor told us 2 months ago that there would be a shop in the game. Why are people NOW getting upset about it?

I have a simple gripe with cash shops. I feel that it breaks immersion with the rpg elements of every game they are in. It is bad enough I have to contend with terrible names like "joe1234" on a RP server no less, but then the devellopers themselves assault me and take me back to reality when all I wish to do is play a damn game to escape reality for a little bit.

Games are a form of entertainment, and a great one at that. I feel as though over the years, the purity of the gaming world has been corrupted. I used to gladly spend 50$ on a game if I could be allowed to just enjoy it without all the competitiveness that has now grown into the mmorpg world.

For those that don't get the jist of it, if you enjoy playing this game, got a whole bunch of pvp done, played your character and felt deep immersion, then come to town to sell your loot and see "cash shop" merchants taking you to paypal or whatever else, it freaking svcks. It's a big let down and it just steals all the enjoyment of playing.

Cash shops make me feel like a Cow, and I don't like being milked. I'll give you 15$ a month to leave me alone, not so you can try to get even more out of me by massaging my impulsiveness, eeking out everything you can out of me until I am bloody done with the game. :(

Just me 2 cents on cash shops. :P

Just because there is going to be a "VANITY SHOP" in tied to the game, doesn't mean it will actually be in the game.

WoW had a "cash shop" but you could only access it outside of the game.

I think people have become to use to F2P MMO cash shops and forget how shops can be done without breaking peoples immersion or nickel and diming the [censored] out of them.

Your probably not going to see an actual "cash shop" in the game. It will probably be like in GW2 where it is in the controls menu and opens the shop.

In before "It's a vanity shop not a cash shop" Edit: Blast!

Anyway I doubt you'll see the cash shop much if you don't want to, there will probably be a button which links you to it on your hud, and that's all. The game will probably not advertise much either(No real need because of the sub).

I was just trying to find the interview where he said this, from a few months ago, he basically said things like name changes and re-customizing your character appearance (eye, hair, skin) crap like that. Was it E3 or Pax?
