I remember looking for this months ago and it looked like there may have been some promising work. But a few quick searches yielded no results. Does this mean they didn't work out? Could SKSE's key detection be used in this way (although I imagine it would be quite a huge script)?

I recently made a large breakthrough on a mod I started months ago but gave up on. Then I realised it's primary purpose. At first I was going to forget the text input part, but then I realised it looks pretty horrible without it. I could redo certain things to make it work, but I figured I'd ask around and see if someone else had figured it out first.
