Texture Cache, how do I get very high?

The texture popping is gone, only after you look around and then its all loaded into the memory, however it is still there in big open areas were there is alot to render. I have a 2gb 6970 with GDDR5 memory, so I'm itching to get the texture pop gone, altogether, would there be a way through the games files to up it to very high cache?

They've seemed to remove the ability to force this option with the latest patch.

That's because 16k textures don't "exist" - 16k just increased the amount of how much it stayed in memory in this case , for PCs with plenty of RAM , EVERYTHING SHOULD STAY OR ADJUST FOR AVAILABLE RAM + option to set manually.

this should be made separate, another engineering design flaw - what the heck carmack ? This setting is weird , it does 2 things, we have no FLAGS to CUSTOMIZE how much it stays in memory , just some hardcoded thing, very bad indeed.

Im reporting this to the big issues list thread

16k textures and/or more will exist when they release super quality packs.

Funny how carmack says inpost-release responses, i know ID and Bethesda are in a lot of pressure so this is not to troll or criticize but this just shows you how people in dire situations tend to bring out weak excuses. I do talk somewhat angry but im the calmest guy here, i know editor is coming i know and paitent to wait and give this game a chance so im not quitting at all, this is all to try to help them actually.

I really appreaciate any response at all , but the funny thing is how easily the response can be countered. Obviously it's a stressful situation when the game launches like this.

- Yeah your absolutely correct, Rage is brand new technology and has a crap options screen, it doesn't really matter how good technology is behind it, it's still crappier than even Far Cry or Call of Duty 2. :P pwnd

I don't believe anyone here mentioned 16k textures, but yes.. there should be an option to actually use the available ram we have.

It worked before, why remove the option?!

very high or super should be 16k , there is nothing between 8 and 16k

it might be possible that there is also more than 16k stuff ... idk what the super quality pack will be. It will be super-quality according to carmack. , not just high-quality like crysis 2 DX11 update , texture work wasn't actually that much better as people expected for a high res pack.

With this in mind , Rage will be more demanding than everything Crysis

I meant very high setting for the cache the texture settings use, not the actual look of the texture... 16k would be a higher quality, not a faster loading speed. Which is what I meant.

This is my problem post patch. I need to either get the textures to load faster, or stay resident in ram longer. With the patch, my ram usage tanked so I'm going for the textures staying in ram longer option.
