Textures corrupt (ATI)

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 5:15 pm

Just installed Rage on Steam and tried to play it for the first time. Getting corrupt textures as soon as I load into the actual game (past the intro cinematic). I've tried the latest ATI drivers as well as the "Preview 2" ones recommended in this forum.

Here's what it looks like: http://s1-04.twitpicproxy.com/photos/large/445027959.jpg

I've tried playing with the graphics settings and nothing has helped. Any ideas?

Specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
ATI Radeon HD 4870
3 gb RAM
Windows XP SP3

Check to see if you Catalyst AI is turned on. Try it on and/or off and see what happens. With the preview 2 drivers I was getting corrupted textures just like your screen shot until I turned Catalyst AI on. Things were pretty decent at that point until I installed the preivew 3 drivers. Then things were permenantly screwed up. Even after I tried to reinstall the preview 2 drivers. So I dumped my ATI card and purchased a nvidia GTX 560ti and Rage has been perfect ever since.

There is a decent chance you can get it working with some experimentation. The drawback is you will spend a fair amount of time messing around. The best thing you can do is search around this forum. Just about every possible scenario for fixing this problem is discussed here. Some people have been sucessful and others have not been able to sort it out.

Good luck.

With your guys' help I was able to get it working. I was able to play for awhile, and then it started crashing. Lowered my screen resolution and that seems to have fixed it so far.

As far as the textures, Small texture cache works for me, whereas Large is still corrupted. Also, the mipping in of textures (blurry textures) happens everywhere and is super noticeable. At least the game runs now though.

Thanks!
