Textures not loading even off the disc now...

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 6:35 pm

So I had the texture problem when I first installed and played the game. I promptly uninstalled it and cleared the cache... played off the disc with few texture errors until level 25.

Today, I started a new character to try being a Rogue. And every single texture is extremely low resolution. I have cleared the cache, rebooted, tried everything I can think of, but my swords still both look like they are from Morrowind.

While the official sticked post says that this issue does not occur while playing off of the disc, that is clearly not true.

Windhelm, playing from the disc, looks like a muddy version of an imperial keep from morrowind in my xbox. Enjoy.

Me too, man. I never install and had a fine experience for the first few days. Then I decided to clear the cache after noticing a couple off textures...now it's full blown buggy. Hands and items look blurry and "Nintendo 64". It's not fixing itself either.

I really hope they fix this ASAP, it's so bad I can't enjoy the game properly.

I think clearing the cache and reloading a save from before you cleared the cache might cause the problem (when playing from disc)

Naw, i've tried clearing it and starting a whole new game straight from the menu, it still looks as bad. Whatever has caused it made it happen no matter what I do. Whatever the issue is, it's deeper than JUST cache and saves. Just hope it has fairly easy or doable fix on the developer end.

Clearing your cache wipes the cache again. Meaning your game actually need to load it again.
And we all know the game struggles with that. So clearing your cache makes it worse.

There is hope though that some played the game and most of the textures restored to normal. So play for an hour or so if you can and see if that helps

Tip: try playing in a closed area, like a house, it loads textures more easily then.

I've tried it all.

Clearing then starting a new game, just starting a new game without clearing, no clearing and new game, just loading my game and letting it sit for like 15 minutes without touching it.

Nothing lasts. Some thing help for a little while. IE the hands: Sometimes they will be full lack of texture looking like plastic, sometimes there will be a faint blur of nails and texture, sometimes you will see the nails and better texture but without the darker lines of full res, then full res. It's constantly switching.

At the same time a good 80% of items still are either blurry fuzzy texture or complete lack of. And the world...OH MAH GOODNESS. I can see the geometry in the texture of almost everything. Too many squares.

the first few days I had the game it was perfect, and now prettymuch everything except the odd item here and there or whatever is at least blurry and low rez if not devoid of texture.

The ONLY fix from the many i've seen online I haven't tried is the USB one, and that looks to not be an option for me. lol

Well, it seems to have made it better, still not as good as it needs to be, but good enough to grudgingly play. lol

I don′t understand this. I just had this issue very minor, when playing from the HDD, now after installing to a USB stick I never had this issue again. All the textures are high res and that is the way it was when plaing from disc.

Can someone please explain the process to install 'Skyrim' to a USB flash drive.

I have a 16gb SanDisk and reformatted for Xbox 360 use...It did give me a warning that there might be performance issues with this flash drive (not sure why)

I did install the game to the drive and tried to play right after that...but when I chose to play from the usb, the game disk was still spinning...

So do I install the game and my saves to the flash drive...or do I just install the game and then chose the saves from the Xbox HDD when I start the game?

This problem has ALWAYS occurred off the disc for me.

The worst is Windhelm. Looks worse than Ocarina of Time. The ground is literally textureless blocks of white or black, just huge square blocks. I just lol at it.

Same for me although the game was installed, was considering risking my xbox going nuclear just to play in high res but since the Windhelm problems seems to persist even off disc ill stick to installed for now.

I had the issue when playing off the disc too, but the textures popped back after a short while. It might have had something to do with me switching it out for another game for a few hours.
