[Bug] Textures

Post » Sat May 26, 2012 10:40 pm

I've become a vampire with two different races, both female, one Nord, the other was Breton and both seem to have this problem with the textures, the NPCs have vampiric eyes, though mine just stay a normal brown, if I starve myself and use my invisibility power my eyes go black, but it's using a texture that isn't for eyes...It keeps reverting to the brown eyes, I've even got a vampire eye texture replacer to see if anything changed, it did not. So I am certain that my game is still using brown eyes...
Also, my character randomly has dirt on her face? Even though I chose no dirt, no warpaint or anything, I can go into "ShowRaceMenu" but as I move the dirt slider, nothing changes, same with make-up and such.

Another thing I noticed: Thief hood does not show properly on Breton Female on the player.

Same bugs on imperial female with vampirism, and also the thief hood (which makes you look bald like friar tuck).

Maybe your a half blood, get back into that dungeon and let them vampires bite the crap out of you! :D

But for reals, I think it's something in the game code that make it use the wrong textures every single time, so even if you use mods, unless you know what texture the game uses, it's no use replacing them.

Confirmed that vampire texture/eye changes do not occur with female nords, breton's, or imperials (they look unchanged). They do seem to work on males, and elven females. Haven't tried redguard yet. Anyone?

Confirmed last night that this also affects Redguard females. What happens with all 4 is when the disease transitions to vampirism the character gets stuck in the transition animation (glowing). This affect persists until you fast travel or zone into another area.

Also, regarding the thief hood, this happened to all of the characters that didn't properly apply vampirism textures/eyes. So, perhaps they are related in some vague way?

I tested it as well for Elven races, as said, the males and Elven races work fine. Even the female Elves have the correct vampiric eyes.
I had another incident, I read how Werewolf could cure Vampirism, (Seeing as how my vampiric embrace wasn't going as planned, Werewolf was my back up), upon changing back to human...My head disappeared.

Anyone tried to use Vampire's invisibility power at the 4th stage of starvation? The eye gets a bizarre texture plastered over them...This would be GLORIOUS to have fixed...But I think you are right, it seems that there is just a minor problem with female humans.

On a separate note, it is nice to know that I am not the only one with these problems! Hopefully they'll be fixed in the next patch.

Bump.

This dirt on my character's face is annoying. Why isn't it fixed yet? Get it fixed Bethesda!

Or release the CK already so I can do it for you.

Okay I after a bit of searching I think I found the guilty texture. Replacing "femaleheaddirt_03.dds" (data\textures\actors\character\character assets\tintmasks) with a blank black texture removed the unwashable dirt from my vampire's face. It also probably removed it from the chargen selection and all NPC who had it but whatever I don't care as long as nothing messes up my character's face.

Those who would like to fix this issue but have no idea what I'm talking about here's my fix: http://www.mediafire.com/?wl2nrioyv09c0cy (simply paste the "textures" folder into your "Data" folder)
At least it worked for me. I'm not sure if it will for you. If it doesn't you can try renaming the file to "femaleheaddirt_02.dds", "femaleheaddirt_01.dds", "maleheaddirt_01.dds", "maleheaddirt_02.dds" or "maleheaddirt_03.dds". One of these variations should work. If not then I have no idea. (By the way it only removes the dirt glitch it doesn't touch the eye or hood or whatever issues)
It's a primitive fix but this is the best I can do until Bethesda finally gets its $h!t together and cleans up the mess it's made. Or invests in betatesters.

*Bump*

This is post patch and everything, I have finally gotten around to trying Skyrim vampirism again and the eye-issue with Breton females still persists, my eyes remain unchanged, they are simply yellow, however I am a vampire. The eyes change with males and elves, just not human females...

@ Gothika
The problem is, "human" females use eyehazelbrown.dds texture for a vampire eye. So, place/replace Data\textures\actors\character\eyes\eyehazelbrown.dds with a "vampire eye" texture (there is a lot of custom eye textures on http://www.skyrimnexus.com)
But this solution leads to another problem - all the normal, non-vampire, human NPCs, which use eyehazelbrown.dds as their eye texture will appear vampire-eyed, even if they are ordinary humans.
