Thalmor-Why cannont you join them? :(

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 7:26 pm

As the title says why cannot the dohvakiin join the thalmor. I think even greybeards sayed that the dragonblood can you make liitle bit more evil and power hungry. And i think paath sayed something along those lines as well. Mer dominance!!! FTW!!!

They should be a join-able faction, but only to non-human charachters.

Because TES follows a "Lore-Line" that apparently does not end in the Dominion's victory

Because the Thalmor have a philosophy of superiority, and believe themselves to be above just about everyone else - probably including you. Their organization is exclusionary.

Tell me more about the Thalmor philosophy! But also i think kind of them as mythic dawn even if you are a man race but helped them you should get a reward or atleast not being hunted down or being turn as a mer. A weak mer but still a mer

They would have to hire more writers to write this, people to type at computers to make the pretty pictures, and actors to voice the words.
Skyrim is a cash cow for them, why would they want to tweak it, to help with your "immersion"? Lol.
It makes sense, and would definitely be a great addition to the game, but I wonder if they will do it....

Because probably of their philosophy of "If the players aren't using it, get rid of it/close it off".

I'd wager they thought because the Thalmor are so polarizing that no one would actually want to play as them, completely forgetting that a lot of people like to roleplay in this game and enjoy doing things we ourselves normally wouldn't do, but our character would.

Well, you couldn't join the Enclave in Fallout 3 or Mythic Dawn in Oblivion either. No dooming the world allowed! :nono:

Cause they're a faction that ultimately wants to end the TES universe. If you sided with them Skyrim would be the last in the series.

Although, I would have liked to have seen the ability to join them but then get betrayed by them somewhere during the questline.

High Elves should be able to join the Thalmor. Even to a lesser extent, Wood Elves and Khajiit.

It would not ever become canon. Good guys always win in videogames that are effectively standalone, like Skyrim.

Because the second you sign up, 'be who you want, do what you want' goes straight out of the window. Well, it's a thought, anyway. These guys thrive on control.

You probably can't join them for much the same reason you couldn't join the Mythic Dawn. Just like with the Mythic Dawn, a Thalmor victory means the end of the world. And that means no more TES games.

Since the Dovahkiin is essentially a manifestation of Talos, to then join the Thalmor would be a bit odd, seeing as how you are living proof of the existence of a God that was a man, and not an elf.

The Thalmor want to destroy mortal existence, if they do that, there won't be anymore Elder Scrolls games, probably. That, and Bethesda created them to be evil bastards that you will eventually destroy (likely via DLC). And they would only recruit Altmer, and possibly Khajiit.

I sure hope it won't be in a mere DLC. The threat of Aldmeri Dominion could easily be an underlying issue for multiple games, if not for most of the 4th Era. They could continue to push forward with more and more victories until they have just about won. Then, one foretold of by the Elder Scrolls, comes forward and saves the world from the brink of destruction.

I disagree on the only non-humans part. See http://uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Gissur, a Nord Thalmor agent. Besides, an Altmer player can still join the Stormcloaks.

Because then the devs would have to retcon the lore http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:The_Warp_in_the_West_(event) style to make everything work out in TESVI.

Have you ever heard the taunts the Thalmor say during a fight? "Soon all the Nords will be thralls of the Thalmor". Gissur just got an early start serving his Thalmor masters. All Nords are welcome to join as slaves.

The Thalmor would really like to bring back the old days, when the mer ruled Skyrim and butchered all but three of the Nords. Ysgrammor and his two sons escaped, went back to Atmora and raised an army. They came back with the 500 Companions, drove the elves from Skyrim, and established the foundations of the first human empire. The Thalmor will never accept a human as an equal.

I know about the Thalmor attitude towards the other races, but my point still stands. I'm not trying to imply they would like you or see you as an equal, but if they let someone like Gissur in, I don't think they'd mind having another powerful warrior, mage, assassin, etc on their side. I'm sure there would be a quest or quests to prove your loyalty towards them though, especially for other races.

Ignoring the "they're the badguys" part...... probably because there isn't a plotline for them? Yeah, they're slightly involved in the MQ, but there isn't an overall "join/fight the Thalmor" plotline. This may be waiting for the next TES game, or it might be waiting for a large DLC. Without there being a plotline to follow with them, "joining" them wouldn't really have any purpose in the current game.

Why would you want to play as a slave? They didn't let Gissur in; they are using him to serve their purposes. When he is no longer useful, he isn't going to be a member of the Thalmor anymore. He will probably be put down since he no longer has any value to them.
