I really wish they would fix Muiri. She's so hot but so anoying. And make a way for PS3 to give her better stuff to wear. I reverse pickpocketed her a diamond ring, diamond necklace, and a daedric dagger, and she won't wear anything else but her ugly dress. Does anyone know if you can pickpocket her clothes off at pickpocket level 100?

I'm a Breton so I married the cutest Breton I could find and she is indeed annoying with always saying that. She's starting to freak me out, hanging out alone all day in my Markarth home, doing nothing but eating. Unless... ;-)

Do other wives have better dialogue?

Sorry, they're all very bland really.
Bethesda has never really been good at dialogue, less even after they started using voiced dialogue.

The whole marriage thing is just a tiny little gimmick that doesn't mean anything. Had I not RPed I would never care.

I'm a Breton too. Always chose Breton in Oblivion. I love being a Mage. Muiri not only is the only Breton available for marrige, but she is arguably the hottest character availble to marry. I did have her in Whiterun with Lydia but I sent her to Solitude to hang with Jordis because I like to use Lydia and don't want Muiri to be left alone... you know, because people might want to get to me through my family. LoL. I wouldn't leave Muiri in Markarth because I don't want her to cheat on me with my housecarl there. HaHa. Anyways, she's pretty anoying.

Hmm, UESP sez

Characters that are recovering from events such as http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Paralyze or http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Ice_Form experience a moment of complete susceptibility to pickpocketing while they are getting up. This means that a player that pickpockets a character while they recover from said events will be able to take anything that character holds (even if the chance of pickpocketing is 0%). However, this has been remedied by patches released.

Might have to back up saves then reinstall? Hope this resolves your... problem.

Isn't it nicer to let her live in Markarth, seeing she originally lives there and got work there?
Some spouses will continue their work if they live in their own house, like the smith in Riften.

This is good to know. I'll mess around a little with this. Thanks.

I thought about letting her live there. If she stays at her shop, she'll actually go out to the local inn at night, but like I said, people might want to get to me through my family. I've done some pretty bad stuff and I worry about her safety. (Won't actually happen, but RPG fantasy) Plus, the prison mine there and that homeless shelter make Markarth a very low class place to live. Muiri deserve a life of luxury in Solitude. Also, the Hags Cure is run by the hag so it's not like her shop is empty.

Actually all games are like that. If you get sick of AI continously ranting the samething over & over again maybe you should ..........

I think maybe my most memorable video game wife (not candy wife?!?) is Jill from AMFV.

Don't want to hijack the thread but do wives that used to be followers (Lydia, Mjoll, etc.) can still follow you once you're married? And do they give the 100 gold bonus also? Or it's one or the other only.

Thanks

Oh, and if anyone knows how to change Muiri's clothes (XBOX), let me know. I need to spice up the bedroom life ;-)

Yeah, I know. But what I pointed out was that Bethesda needs either more writers, or new ones. Not many quests in Skyrim are as memorable as many in older Bethesda games, so I guess they need new writers to come up with something new.

If you marry a follower, they will still follow you. Also, most other NPC's you marry will follow you too. Muiri is actually one of the only characters who can not be a follower. Kind of messed up because I wanted to take her to court, but her dress is to ugly to bring to the palace anyways. PC gets to have all the fun with their command bar.

As for the gold... I think the only ones who give you gold are the ones who open a shop.

I know what you mean. On my first character I did the marriage thing only for the
convenience of having a store in my house. Really it wasn't worth it in the end.

So here's an update... (PS3)

I was easily able to reach pickpocket level 100 by stealing a guard outside riften jail's arrows and then placing about 100 arrows along with his several times from around a corner and simply paying the theives guild fine when he would catch me.

As far as Muiri's clothes go, you can not see them in the pickpocketing list until you unlock the perk for level 100, so freezing her doesn't really help, although freezing an NPC and then healing them does allow you to pickpocket all items without getting caught.

At pickpocket 100 with the perk, you can take Muiri's clothes, boots, and dagger. She will equipt any weapon you reverse to her except staffs. As far as clothes go, she will not equipt any clothes that you reverse to her, not even apparel that has the name 'clothes' and 'boots'.

And she will not stay completely naked either. If you leave the room and return after leaving her completely naked, her clothes and boots will have respawned. Her dagger never returns. But, if you hate her dress, then you can simply remove it and leave her boots on and the dress will not respawn as long as she is wearing her boots.

I personally like this better than her ugly dress because the default underwear looks like a sixy swim suit. So, not the best outcome, but at least you can get rid of her dress.

Seems like the marriage feature was more inspired by the Fable series than anything Bioware-ish (not that Bioware necessarily has marriage, but it has realistic character interactions).

Without resorting to console commands, nope.

Best to make a manual save before you get married, then if things don't work out, you can go back to being single.
