Thank you Bethesda for the dungeons.

I've never really enjoyed dungeon crawling, Fallout 3 dungeons tended to be a little on the depressing side and Oblivion dungeons quickly became same old same, but Skyrim is a breath of fresh air, especially the Dwemer ruins, in past games I avoided the dungeons unless a quest sent me on them, in Skyrim I go looking for the dungeons.

The Dwemer ruins are especially favorites of mine, I love the detail put into them, I'm not going to say anymore for fear of spoiling it for those who've not discovered them, but I'd say your in for a treat, so again, thank you Bethesda for making dungeon crawling finally a pleasure.

I agree 100%. If I'm pursuing a questline, I always get sidetracked with new dungeons/caves/ruins. So far, it's my favorite part of the game. I think I've only completed 2 main quest missions, and I'm level 17.

The dungeons in general seem longer, somewhat more varied, generally more detailed and more often more than one tileset. That plus the fact that there's 1/2 more dungeon types (if you count ice caves as different from caves it's 2) and the fact that they almost always have a story to go along with them means they are much more enjoyable.

Especially Dwemer Ruins. Great job creating those Falme creatures. They are dropping from nowhere and have spider senses.

I have to concure, to be honest the whole game is a fresh. I know some will bla bla bla this or that, but I think of all the games (rpg's and simular) that have come out. This has to be my fav by far. I loved dragon age, thought that was the best thing sense sliced bread, now? Nope, this is the new leader in RPG. I really didn't care for oblivion as so many others did. Maybe because it was to colorful, this one feels more real world etc , but still has plenty of fantasy. I have to admit thou, dragons = fun fun fun. They really did a great job with them and the random shows are nice. If and when they make another elders, I hope dragons don't go away forever and we still get randoms, but alas we shall see. In any case, I agree very much so. Dungeons are definitly fun to go into.

Agreed, so far the variety in dungeons is leagues better than Oblivion and each has felt unique to me, and I haven't even entered a Dwemer ruin yet. I didn't go in with the unrealistic expectation that I'd never see repeating textures and such - in fact I was skeptical there would be anything near the promised variety before playing - but I am rather impressed so far. A mine accessible early on was the first dungeon I entered at random and the scripted conversations and other behavior of the bandits was better done than just about anything I'd experienced in previous titles. They have come a long way towards eliminating the immersion-breaking experience of entering a dungeon and seeing its human inhabitants listlessly pacing around doing nothing. While that is occasionally forgivable if they are on guard duty and such, it's silly when a room of 3+ bandits has them silently staring at walls waiting for someone to come kill them.

I completed loads of side quests and had a good few dungeon-mining trips around Whiterun before finally heading off on the main quest. The dungeons are extremely well done!

All the dungeons I've seen so far are pretty unique. Dungeon diving has never been more fun.

Totally agree.

I randomly stumbled into Ansilvund, and it turned into a great hour-long crawl. If you haven't found it yet, this dungeon is awesome.

I agree. I've not been in that many yet but even the 1 room small caves I thought were pretty cool.

The dungeons themselves are awesome in their design; too bad the enemies that populate them are recycled and uninspired; feels like I am going through the same encounters over and over and over despite the dungeons being quite different. They need more diversity for enemy/encounter types and behavior in their dungeons to make it a bit more interesting. The dungeons impress me, but I am never surprised or excited by the encounters within them.

I have to agree here, the diversity of caves and grottos is great. When you step in that dark crevice you have no-idea of what kind of and how complex dungeon system you are going to face.

I'll have to disagree.

I hate dungeons with a passion.

Traps annoy the [censored] out of me, puzzles are weak and recycled, and I feel as though the dungeons don't vary much at all.

Agree, 100% agree. I used to be one of those people that hated dungeons/caves because they were all too similar (same goes with Fallout's vaults/caves.) Its very nice to see Bethesda improve in this area. They weren't BSing when they said they're all unique and I must admit, I was quite skeptical. Even this one little bandit cave I explored yesterday was unique. :foodndrink:

I absolutely love the traps, they've forced me to slow down and watch my steps as I go, though the pressure plate traps are no longer a problem because I've got the light foot perk.

Don't vary much?, are we playing the same game? B)

I didn't mind the Oblivion dungeons too much, despite the fact that they were very similar (classic RPGs, what can you do?).

But I whole-heartedly agree, the Skyrim dungeons are awesome.

Yeah, I like morrowind's dungeon system better than oblivions. I grew so tired of caves and alyied ruins.

This one is a lot better. I feel like each one is varied and aesthetically pleasing, along with adding a challenge of the occasional puzzle, and surprise attacks from enemies. Traps are much less predictable and I will admit, I got clacked a few times. I am constantly in search of the word wall and still enjoy finding them/ hearing the music etc.

I agree with you, the dungeons in this game so far have been very beautiful and unique, and have even managed to distract me from questing.

Yeah. Whole heartedly agree. To me, dungeons are the entire point behind a fantasy MMO, and this one is the first time I've actually never been bored in a single one. I've been taking a screenshot of each finall boss room (at least, what I'm guessing before I go in) and they are all unique. Morrowind and Oblivion reused tilesets and layouts too much so that dungeon x felt just like dungeon iv. Do not get that at all in here.
