Thank You - Regarding Music

Post » Mon May 16, 2011 3:49 pm

I just wanted to say thank you to whomever said, "Keep the music consistant with the first...of it's time and classic". It really goes a long way to creating the feel to this game. The music of Fallout 3 constantly and pleasently haunted me for hours daily until I could get home to play the game. So thank you for doing that again. Cheers!!

I often found myself quietly singing "He's hackin' and whackin' and smackin'" when driving down the road during a commerical break on the radio. :whistling:

Haha. I wish you could have seen the old music suggestion threads. People asking for Eminem and Katy Perry.. I wanted to fall onto a Garden Gnome and die. Grah, it was insane.

But, the music looks great! :tops:

Indeed, and hearing Wayne Newton in that Best Buy interview, his soothing sounding voice REALLY felt belonging to the game.

Doubt anyone said "Keep the music consistent"...They knew to keep it the same period piece music. No one said "Hey what about some Talking Heads or Primus, instead of this dated stuff".

If your looking for more information on the music in NV, you should check out this Gamasutra article by the lead audo director at Obsidian, Scott Lawlor:

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/6173/the_music_of_the_mojave_wasteland.php

Highlights (for me anyway):

-Music is dynamic based on reputation

-Different areas have different themes

-Some of Mark Morgan's music from F1 & F2 is in.

There's lots more information in the article.

The instrumentation should focus on Western/Folk instruments mixed with more Modern, Industrial, Found-Sounds and Gritty Synthesis

Haven't really heard any of the new music (except for trailer intro) and I haven't really read about the SOT either so I'm happy I didn't spoil one thing about Vegas.

Heck yah. It spawned a whole new genre of music I love. Shortly after getting FO3, I got a car with XM which has a 40's station. Listened to the crap out of it and then went and bought about 400 songs from itunes including all of the fallout music (except the sunnin one, I couldn't find that one)

All I can say about it is that I'm happy to see that they sticked with the right music for that time period.

I'm gonna enjoy every song, I'm pretty sure of that.
