That was THE shortest story I have ever seen.

I just beat it from both sides and now I just feel like not playing Skyrim anymore. It just made the feeling of nothing to do even worse.

Probably because you sped through it as fast as you could, I've only done the DG side and that lasted 13 hours.

The civil war quest was a copy pasted joke with some great lore behind it, and it was patheticly short.

I didn't even speed through it. I even had a feeling before hand that it would be short so I tried to do it slowly, but it was basically the same thing over and over again really fast.

How many hours was it?
Like hour many hours per side, how many hours total, and what was your gameplay style, i.e. were you fully focused on the main quest, did you also do sidequests, were you relaxed or in a hurry, etc.?

Took me 12 hours to do DG side master difficulty, includng all the DG side missions (dwarven artifacts/kill vamps). Loved it even though I felt like I rushed it.
Doing Vampire side on another characer now, gunna take a bit more time and do more extra stuff.

skyrim experience depends so much on how you play the game.. i agree with you enigma. But its only your imagination that make the game amazing, cause you like RPG. But the game is in fact very unbalanced, mostly for kids and too linear

I'm still messing around with dragonbone weapon making, upgrading the crossbow, trying new heavy armor sets, etc.

I got it yesterday and have only done some of the first dawnguard quest, mainly concentrating on the gal who gives bolt/ and other
upgrade stuff.

So its adding quite a few hours of playing time, just doing prep stuff.

I am at the part where you enter the Soul Cairn in the DG side, how much more do I have? I might hold off, if I am approaching the end.

I don't know what these guys are talking about. I'm a beta tester and the Vampire side of Dawnguard took me an easy fifteen hours. I was in no rush, I simply played, did a good amount of the side quests ([censored] THE [censored]-ING HORSE HEAD!) and was pretty relaxed. I didn't focus on side-quests, but when one of them popped up I would decided whether it was worth my time or not.

Honestly, worth the twenty bucks. Good characters, good story, and good loot.

Well, the quests are short if you only do the main quest, but if you do a lot of the radiant quests while doing the main quests for the expansion than the factions really drag out. Of course, it gets really annoying having to kill the same visiting adviser in Dawnstar, but other than that quest the radiant quests are tolerable. At least on the Dawnguard faction, that is.

I knew it would be short and I did everything in the DG, and what the hell happened to getting your own fort? Anyways kind of a let down in size but it was a really good story and I liked alot of things.

Crossbows alone would give me +200 more hours alone. Dawnguard armor another +100... Hell, I am still playing Skyrim ever since it came out. Roleplaying all the time... You need to know how to play a certain way if you have intentions of playing it long-term, otherwise no such game ever was created. A player must be creative. It's like reading a book... use your imagination and you'll enjoy it far more. Everytime I immerse myself into a roleplay story, I feel like playing a different game. But only if your imagination is strong...

For instance... I look up to Skyrim as Game Of Thrones at the moment (If you know the book series or the show) Surprisingly, it's very much alike. Empire is the Targaryen House, Windhelm the Rebels. Draugr are the White Walkers (Hell they even look alike... Blue eyes, disgusting skin  ), Winterhold is somewhere near the Wall , Dragons returning after 300 years and you are Dragonborn just like Daenerys Targaryen, you get a dragon ( Odahving ) which I took the liberty to call Drogon. As for races, I look on the Redguard as Dothraki, Elves the noblemen of Bravos, Nords as the normal citizens of the Seven Kingdoms... It all fits perfectly so that's why I enjoy Skyrim even today, plus the mods are fantastic in helping me achieve that

So far it doesn't feel short to me so much as poorly written, cliché and forcing you character to be a good guy regardless of faction, giving you no real choice to block out the sun except for a stupid bow you get that temporarily does it. Here's what I said on another thread:

Oh my gosh...the more I play this the more clichéd and shallow this story gets....the conversation between
Spoiler

Serana and her mother is cringe-worthy. The classic daughter wanting to forge her own path, tired of her parents making decisions for her. Yes this can be done well, but when you're going to use such an old cliché like this you'd better write it well and make it believable. I just dont believe that this is at all a genuine conversation between a family of necromantic murdering vampires who worship the lord of [censored] and enslavement and committed unspeakable acts to gain his favour. Molag Bal would laugh at this.

I may have gotten carried away there, but hokey writing really gets to me. That said, some of the ideas are nice and I love how the brought back the soul cairn. The art designer is extremely creative (I'm talking to you Vsions!) andmanaged to capture the weirdness of the TES that, in my humble opinion, has been missing since Morrowind and Shivering Isles. Still, this overall story is getting pretty laughable......to me at least.

So far Im at the point where Ive just visited the soul cairn.
I havent found everything there yet, but after 2 hours I wanted to go back to Tamriel.

I dont know what you are talking about.
This DLC makes up for so much that Skyrim lacks.
It has an interesting story, fleshed out characters, youre actually given motives and backgrounds.
We get to learn a lot more about existing lore, including an encounter with Jiub that was far more statisfying than Potema.
Interesting new summons, shouts, weapons and armour.
So far, Im enjoying myself.

Haha usually we dont disagree Merari, but to each their own I suppose. Did you read what was in the spoiler tag? It sort of explains the scene that made me respond that way. (quasi-spoiler here) Also, your character is suddenly forced into a good guy role on the vampire side and ends up being forced to stop the thing you were helping to do at the beginning, giving you no other choice. This sudden shift is jarring to me. You're very close to the moment I described. Read the spoiler if you want.
